Royal British Legion Festival of Remembrance 2022

Aired 12 November 2022

For the first time since his accession to the throne, HM King Charles III, accompanied by the Queen Consort and other members of the royal family, attends the Royal British Legion’s annual Festival of Remembrance at the Royal Albert Hall in London.

Artists including multi award-winning tenor Andrea Bocelli with his son Matteo and daughter Virginia, Hollywood actor and singer Luke Evans, Emmy Award-winning actress and West End star Hannah Waddingham, and musical theatre sensation Marisha Wallace perform alongside the band of HM Royal Marines, the Royal Air Force Squadronaires and the Bach Choir. The conclusion of the festival will feature actress Shona McGarty alongside the Fourth Choir, together with spoken word artist Jaspreet Kaur.

This year’s event reflects upon what service means to our armed forces and also to the wider communities in this country and across the Commonwealth. The opening of the festival pays tribute to the late Queen Elizabeth II and her 70 remarkable years of service and dedication. The 40th anniversary of the Falklands War is also commemorated as we recall the events of this conflict, remembering the service and sacrifice of so many. Military personnel, past and present, will be honoured for their service and dedication in defending our freedoms and way of life. As the petals fall in the Royal Albert Hall, the festival pays tribute to all victims of war and remembers those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

  3. Mrs Philibet, may I suggest you rename this upload so YouTube can't detect it as easily and remove it. Perhaps something like "RBL FESTIVAL 22" Or "Remembrance performance" or something similar. In my experience it stalls YouTube from catching it, atleast for a while.

  4. I was there in the audience for this year's festival, it was the 3rd time I've been there live. One benefit of being a member of the Royal British Legion, priority ticket's for sale. The tribute to Her Late Majesty the Queen was very moving, it made everyone smile and teary at the same time.

As a military man, I was very proud to serve her Late Majesty full time and then part time as a reservist. I'm still a reservist and am proud to serve His Majesty the King.

  6. I wish the citizens of the UK were NOWADAYS very critical about their past !!! ; the actual Britain is based ON OCCUPATION : The Commonwealth !!!
I have lived all together two years in Britain from september 1967 to june 1969 and from june to december 1973.
I have very much loved this country and Queen Elisabeth II, but I think Britain has always thougt IN COLONIAL TERMS, and STILL does.
And poor souls, God has never and will never have to do with any of the wars you pay remembrance to and with the military forces you honour !!!
Margaret Thatcher has sacrified blundly about 250 soldiers in the Aukland conflict and Tony Blair has been very proud to send soldiers to death in Afghanistan !!! ; JUST for the glory of 'Great' Britain !!!
Some years ago I attended the superb concert in Royal Albert Hall when the march of 1812 from Tchaïkovski was performed. I was then appalled to see 6000 ! british flags dressed and agitated when it was asked to pay tribute to 'our boys' figthing in Afghanistan.
