  1. A few closing thoughts to add. Naturally playing through the game you'll easily hit 150, I hit 150 and still had 3-4 bosses left to tackle and don't expect players to stop leveling at 120/125 and hang onto 9 million souls while finishing a playthrough strictly for a duelist meta, that's going to be a very small part of the overall community.

At the same time, I think going beyond 150 begins to give you too much flexibility. I think once you get into the 170+ range you have enough stats to reach softcaps and multiple damage stats and that's getting too insane.

  2. In ds3 health softcapped at 40 and Faith/Int and Dex (I believe) softcapped at 60.
Talking Bare minimums, Elden Ring already has a 40 level difference in softcapps for the 2 main stats alone. Not even taking into account how mind goes up so slowly in this game, heavy weapon requirements, and many other factors.
    150 all the way.

  3. I really think that A LOT of the Weapon Skills in this game need their FP costs dramatically increased, in order to force pure physical builds to invest in Mind, which would once again increase the meta level. Currently though, we have skills which deal an absurd amount of damage, without forcing the player to invest in Mind at all in order to spam them. The PVP meta right now involves A LOT of Weapon Skill spam, because the stat investment is incredibly low to get a lot of mileage with a lot of these. The duelist meta may shift upward over time, if there are nerfs to Weapon Skill costs, because right now they're a bit absurd in how cheap they are.

  4. Soft caps are different from what I understand. So it makes sense that meta will probably be higher then 120-135. But I’m still level 60 and getting constant invasions and loving it. Ya some summons are one shotting me with moonveil until I realized I can spell parry that shit which is awesome. The first one I parried the summon looked around like what the fuck just happened. Lmfao. Loving this game

  5. 150 seems about right I agree…I’m currently 127 and still need a little more stamina and dex for my arcane/dex bleed dragon incant build. I need health and Stam (obviously) dex, faith, arcane and mind. 125 would need a sacrifice I can’t make.

  6. 150 meta anyone saying otherwise just doesn't get the game or the values or broad necessities and what's obviously intended with builds for elden ring.. Dummies

  7. This game has higher stat caps and is the biggest game Fromsoft has ever made. It seems foolish for people to have a 125 meta level for everybody. Elden Ring is an evolution of every game Fromsoft has made. The player base need to evolve along with it.

  8. But why do you need 80 for your damage stat just because it scales that far? Damage is already high as it is. I have a Faith scaling weapon with 671 AR and my Faith is only 27. 🤣

Also you only need the minimum Str to dual wield and powerstance. Kinda confused about why you said that. I'm a "souls vet" but I haven't even beat this game yet so maybe I'll understand the reasoning a little better later on. Based on the stats you showed here. I'm thinking the old meta is still valid. 125.

  9. Yeah I always thought the meta was built around hp, end and 1 dmg cap. If you wanted two you were pulling out of something else to do it. My basic ass str build feels complete at 120 so i can see this going on for a while yet. But i've also not got to the end of the game and not tried to fit any other build in these levels so we'll see on character 2.

  10. 150 – 200. i couldn't beat the game until i was 160, rounded up to 175 for a decent build for NG+. the coop summoning is less frustrating and invades are a little slower. im sitting on a lot of runes id like to pump into stats, i would be so happy if i could invest a little more

  11. This whole meta thing was made up by the players themselves can't we all just level up to level 200 because not only PVP we also have to fight the enemies and the bosses and I don't want to keep myself weak just to satisfy a player made-up meta. I'm already level 170 in the game and I'm trying to reach 280 that way I can have my intelligence at 80 because I was focusing too much on melee combat my strength is at 72 I want at least try all the spells in the game

  12. I don't think Scott was trying to say that was the only meta, merely that within his community it's the one that's relevant but that could be clearer, also I genuinely feel like PVP is going no where in this game anyway as it's almost always just who has the cheasier build.

  13. I never thought the term meta was ever being used correctly for the souls games. Meta in gaming is usually used to talk about strategies. So saying what level is the meta at makes no since. So asking "what's the meta like at 120 or 150" or saying "the meta at 150 is ____" would be the proper use of the word. Not super relevant put it's always felt wrong to me

  14. At level 150 in dark souls 3 I was getting invaded by havel monster with sacred oath. In Bloodborne I went to level 250 with everything at softcap except arcane which was 99. Still was pvping just fine and co-oping fine. So I might just softcap all my stats again on my first character.

  15. This seems somewhat stupid as a concept. If the design and method of progression is narrative scripted interaction, the consideration of player versus player interactions is at best novelty. Even using the term "meta" is both incorrect and ignorant.

I don't game players understand the product they consume. These are misunderstood inventions.

  16. Great video! I really like your idea of having 2 "meta" levels, the duelist meta and the community meta. Since souls games are kinda hitting the point of becoming main-stream, I think this is the best compromise so everyone can enjoy the game the way they want and still have plenty of ppl to connect with.
