This game is a 10/10
I got sucked into Lost Ark so I'll just nab Elden Ring when it's on sale and (hopefully) proper patched. I do not want my DS2 SotFS Heide Tower experiences to follow me cuz that place was rife with shit licking hackers for whatever the reason. Nor do I want to experience significant performance problems on what I know I'll love the crap out of.
The novelty of this game is going to go away and people will be able to actually criticize it eventually. I want to be clear, the game is damn good. But it has so many issues beyond PC performance.
Elden Ring is not From’s finest work. So many repeated assets and bosses, although this is all side content to be fair. But the quality drop off in the end game rivals DS1, the late game bosses are balanced around the spirit summon mechanic, so if you don’t want to use that, good luck. Strength builds are essentially dead because bosses are too quick. Also, I’ve soloed every boss in previous fromsoft games so don’t tell me to “get gud.” There are a large amount of souls fans that agree with me.
The first 50-60 hours of my playthrough were some of the best I’ve ever experienced. The last 20 I couldn’t wait to get the game over with. Obviously if you even remotely criticize the game at this point you get called a casual so go ahead and give it to me in the comments.
By the way. This isn't dark souls

It's no where near an all time great. But hype beasts love hype more than they love the actual game. They don't really care about how good the game is they care about boasting and posturing on the internet about said game.
you know its bad when cyberpunk gives me 60 fps in 1080p and elden ring doesnt not even in 720p with a gtx1070 and i7 6700hq and running on a 970 evo ssd
I guess I was lucky and didn't have most of the issues that some people have. No disappearing enemies, good frame rate most of the time. I will add though I noticed bad framerate when I am using the horse and trying to fight the tree sentinel and going too fast through the scenery and rotating my camera fast. I don't prefer the horse, it's movement is awkward, but maybe because of moving faster through the world and rotating the camera like a lunatic, I then noticed something is choppy with the frame rate. But when going on foot it's mostly ok. Meanwhile, I have a PC with older generation I7 CPU and 16MB Ram, but my GPU is RTX 3060Ti. Oh,. and because I was crazy, I am playing this in 4k with all setting at as max as possible. Walking through the world on feet it frame rate seems to be good, running with the horse and traversing the landscape fast, things go choppy (I even get motion sick, either because of the frame rate or awkward horse camera controls). But again, running at 4k with all max, so I was kinda expecting it.
Game less good bc my pc was crap
Just finished astro skeleton boss and cant remember what ranni told me… did she finally die or something? Sh3 became a doll and at some point it ended i think… somethng about malena being her sister. And isnt she the level up girl?
Man the story is vague yet intrigue
200 hrs in 10/10 Easy
"The world consists of two islands. The final areas to the east…" You have no idea dude.
It's a perfect game with technical issues.
Yeah get packed PC soy boy. HEEHEEHA
I dunno about this review, I think it could use more descriptive timestamps. Feels like the first third can be summed up with: game's not optimized, and that's enough to not be a 10/10. Which I would agree with. But, and this seems to be a popular sentiment in these comments: I hardly dealt with even a fraction of these issues, and many I didn't experience at all. Maybe if Strat does a spoiler review we might get some more substance, but as it stands he seems very upset with From for having a rough launch. The game hasn't been out for a month, and he points out that optimization could take a while, but also seems to be claiming that it won't be worked on? I dunno, I might be misunderstanding. Either way, if the claim is that Elden Ring will be abandoned this soon after release and forgotten because it's a buggy mess, I think only time will tell, and I'll eat my words in 4 months if none of these issues have been addressed by then.
Perfect for me. But I play on a ps5
My favorite glitch was hitting phase 2 with the Fire Giant and Torrent running off, leaving me floating in the air unable to move and then dying for no obvious reason.
You probably voted for Biden.
Get good
All G.R.R. Martin did was write the setting and relationships, then Miyazaki and From Soft corrupted it. Miyazaki said as much in an interview.
What's odd is that barely experienced any of the issues you describe. I had some frame drops before the patch, but none of the other stuff. No invisible enemies or horse, no inputs not being registered. And since the patch, the frame drops are gone too.
The open world took a while to click for me too. I think that's more a matter of taste. Or I guess, approaching the game on its own terms. Overall I agree with your opinions on the world.
I really like the music during exploring. I had the same experience as you with most bossfights. Too focused on the fight to really care about the music.
Lol. Yeah the connection drop putting you into the main menu really sucks. I'm lucky enough to have barely any connection drops.
Hold up. I can turn off the wall avoidance thing!? I did not know that.
I don't think build optimisation is that necessary. You can easily over level yourself and get away with a suboptimal build.
The game has an easy mode: summoning.
Honestly, the story is pretty much what I expected. It has cool lore, but it doesn't really have a narrative. That's not a criticism. But yeah, it seems odd to really praise the story when that is barely present in the game. Totally agree with you there.
FROM hasn't just added things to the gameplay. The gameplay of elden ring isn't just ds1 (or demon's for that matter) but better. It's different. It's a lot faster, for one. The increase in speed that came with ds3 is something I actually kind of dislike. That said, elden ring does so many other things better in terms of combat that I don't mind the increase in speed.
Turns out, a lot of people like opening themselves up for invasion. Personally, I'm just happy I can't just get invaded willy nilly anymore. Invaders needed a bit of a disadvantage in the old games, because invaders would always be more experienced than the new players.
dude i have a 3070 and a ryzen 9 and ive been running it at 70 frames a second right out of the box and i feel like the luckiest boy in the world.
After 50hrs in Elden Ring I still think Bloodborne is the best FromSoft game, don't get me wrong ER is a great game however BB has (imo) stronger general atmosphere, better soundtrack and way better combat.
Console bros win again
I've encountered quite a few issues myself, also on PC. Fortunately, nothing quite as bad as this. I've seen enemies turn invisible, had random insta-kills outside of combat, input stalls, player character slowdowns (weirdest one to me, my character moves in slo-mo while NPCs are fine, varies from worse than fat-rolling slow to almost not noticeable), falling through the map, horse running out from under me, attacks passing through enemies like they aren't there even when the enemy is not yet in combat with me, among other issues.
Even outside of these bugs, the game has a good few questionable and even bad design decisions. I'd say that while it's a good game, it's definitely not a 10/10, more like a 7 or 8, and a 5 or 6 maybe less when the bugs are bad enough.
I was surprised to see the overall reviews go from mixed to very positive overnight. I wrote a character-limit review for the game as I do with all games I care about, only to find that no-one can see it. I guess Fromsoft is abusing Valve's new "you can pay us to get a better review score" policy. Shame, really.
I had thought about putting out a critical video review of the game myself, may still end up doing so. The game just has too many issues to be ignored, and unfortunately, the cult-like Fromsoft fanbase seems to be not only refusing to discuss these issues, but also doing everything they can to silence such discussion. Just look at the Steam discussion forums for the game and how they treat people with genuine concerns and bugs.
I think a big blame can be laid on the anti cheat software. Which I'm solidly against. So much for PC master race. PS5 is king now sucker!
I like the game a lot tho progression and map design makes no sense(enemy scalling wise), and you have to fucking avoid game-breaker spells as dragon rot in order to enjoy it.
Oh and pvp is unplayable, sadly.
Haven't had a lick of technical issues but I'm well aware of many who have. It would be nice to see what the actual problem is.
40:50 he did universe building only, didnt wrote the game story/nor directed it, as presented to you
source: this was mentioned not long ago in bandai namco yt video with devs
Its strange, I have a computer thats below minimum, but runs very well, save for a few frame drops here and there. My brother has also has a below minimum pc, but he says it runs well, until all the enemies turn invisible. Very strange.
45:27 is so true, in ds2 we used to invade (or leave mark) at iron keep bridge and it didnt matter, because you rarely got a newbie going through the map for first time, it was known as pvp zone to practice builds before hitting BoB, same as other specific zones
Quick question. Is the footage from 2:58 your footage or someone else?
I've had absolutely no problem with the game at all. Ryzen 3800 XT +1080 ti
Theres still traditional intricate levels in the game like stormveil castle and raya lucaria academy
It's a really good game, but people do be smoking calling it a masterpiece and a 9/10-10.
The most important thing anyone can take from this video is please, everybody, stop encouraging bad behaviour from devs!
cant take your game serious when it controls like TES Oblivion in 2022.
This shit is so weird, that website that lets you know if your PC can run a game or not told me my CPU was too weak to run elden ring. But i ran dark souls 3 just fine and i was so excited that i said fuck it and got it. My computer runs it just fine though? There are occasional stutters but it's a pretty consistent 60fps for the most part. It's just so weird that my 7 year old machine is running the game better than most high end modern rings
Hard disagree with this game needing a fine tuned build. I've just been fucking around trying whatever without a build in mind besides using the biggest sword i can. I've actually barely been using weapon arts since there are so few of them for collosal swords and i haven't really had issues. Margit was a bit tough for me until i just took off all my armor so i could light roll through everything
This game can't use the way sekiro uses mechanics because sekiro was intentional designed with only one weapon and moveset in mind. That's why things and bosses are able to be gatekept by mechanics like the stomp counter or jumping. That just literally couldn't work in elden ring, because if a boss is meant to teach you to jump to beat it, you can't make it just that way because characters can just use magic from a distance
Hell Yeah!
