A little while ago, we published a beginners tips guide to #EldenRing – what we didn’t realise though, was that for some these tips weren’t beginner enough. So, we made Elden Ring for Dummies – an in-depth Elden Ring explainer covering attributes, levelling, weapon scaling, equip loads and more. Now Aoife Wilson is back with an Elden Ring Combat For Dummies vid, covering Ashes of War, weapon upgrades, enemy patterns, Spirit Ashes, Super Armour and more. Let us know if you have any further questions in the comments! #Eurogamer #EldenRingforDummies

Want this game to be easy as hell? Go with a glinstone (intelligence) build and find the Meteorite Staff early. I wanted to try magic for once in Souls, so I went with this build. By just using the entry level attack spell on 90% of my enemies, I've basically coasted the game and beat probably 80% of the bosses now on the first try.
So… anyone else going to mention they are playing a stark?
I’m just here to see Aoife respond to the “I’m not listening to a woman” comments tbh 🍿
YAAAAY EUROGAMER! Exactly why I asked for. You guys rock
There's also parrying. If you have a shield (or weapon with an ash that allows parrying) then you can raise it at precisely the moment an enemy attack would connect in order to leave them open to a crit. This seems to work against many (non-magic, non-aoe, non-stabbystabby) hits even if the enemy looks too big to parry.
Correction pal, the jump does have I-frames but only in the up motion, the minute you hit peak height of the jump your more open than an executives arsehole.
Aoife guest starring Johnny Let's Play Elden Ring when?! 😄
I just got done playing Horizon and like say the combat is very different lol
“Yeah I don’t like to learn”
As someone who never actually played any other Soulsborne Game before, it took me quite some time to notice that backstabbing only works when you are locked on to the enemy. Thanks for this and the dummy guide they both helped immensely.
You make very good guides
The underlying thing the Soulsborne games do that is counter-intuitive to most other action adventure, RPG games is use death as a teaching tool like Aoife, said. It sounds simple, but when you're in the heat of combat, Gamer Brain kicks in and yells at you, "I have to beat this thing and if I don't, I'm a failure!" This might be true in the short term, but the long term benefits of dying is to teach you the enemy's move set, and even how you can adjust your playstyle as you progress. Other games treat death as a negative, but in the Soulsborne games, it's to help you be become better at the game itself in the long run.
I would love a guide on where to go to kill stuff to help increase your skills in a more smooth flow than wandering around
