Edgar Allan Poe's The Raven – Recited by Aurelio Voltaire

Greetings spooky friends and Happy Halloween! For several years now, I’ve wanted to make a Gothic Homemaking Halloween special where I recited Edgar Allan Poe’s Gothic horror poem, The Raven. Unfortunately, something always got in the way. Well, this year, I made it a point to memorize it and at long last, here is a full recital of this classic poem featuring one grim, ungainly, ghastly, gaunt and ominous bird of Yore! I hope you enjoy it!!!

  1. My church told me I had to stop reading Edgar Allan Poe but I told her you were in high school or in college and they all said yes so why can I not read it and in high school you have to read the type of books to be honest with you and I that's when I became Goth. I love Edgar Allan Poe. And those people at church did I mention I never went back to church, because I love Goth. ❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀❀

  3. 1:10 And the silken, sad uncertain, rustling of each purple curtain…thrilled me…

Loved this! You made the poem your own.

    Loved your interpretation!

I have a pair of β€œThe Raven” poem fingerless gloves I wore for Halloween!
Saved this video to watch next Halloween!

  4. "The Shadow that falls over you" in the background really set the tone. Your energy, your voice, your editing, everything made this truly enjoyable and touching. Well done! Took the despair, and gave it, just a splash of hope… πŸ–€πŸ¦β€β¬›
Will be coming back to this often!

  5. I became friendly with a gentleman later in his life, who would have absolutely LOVED your reading of one of his favorite things to read, no, to perform for my kids and I over the phone.
He'd call once a month or so and he would delight in doing it when he knew my kids were going to have friends over.
They'd all gather around the speakerphone and begs him "come on uncle Vincent! Do the laugh"! And of course he would do that laugh we all know and love.
Only then would the new visitors believe that they were talking to Vincent Price!

  6. This was a lot of fun! Thanks a lot for coming to Saskatoon, SK over a decade ago, and surprising my wife in the club by offering "Lady like a foot rub?!?" I just played your video and reminded her, and she cackled with glee!! You really made our night! – Kurt
