  1. Its amazing how much BETTER Alive's ruts/deformation "dirt on the track" look over Legends… Dont get me wrong im enjoying legends for what it is, but ever since All Out released until now, every update has been trying to get the games closer to what reflex and alive had (especially bike sounds, deformation, bike physics, etc). The team still has alot of work to do IMO

  2. It is unbelievable and almost a shame for the developers that a game that came out in 2011 (12 years) looks better than a current one. It is a clear example of the situation of the MX vs ATV saga. They have no competition with another video game company that makes games of this style, that is why the gameplay of the last 2 games is so bad. Since they have no competition, they don't make an effort to make the game better

  3. To be quite honest with little changes they did to the tracks in legends, it almost makes it look they they havent changed at all. Side from the dirt color and the games lighting, i do believe this was a win. 10 for me. Now the most im looking forward to is pinetop as well. To be honest for the entire DLC pack, i would have to give this an 8/10 because out of all we are getting 4 sand tracks out of this DLC when they could've been more diverse with the track selection. Yes the sand is awesome but i was looking forward to other tracks. Especially from alive. And a few other from reflex.

  4. REFLEX and ALIVE were both great looking games (and still are) especially for their time. They were developed on a custom game engine with a custom Terrain System that was created specifically for them, and it had amazing Terrain features, like Terrain Decals that can affect the heightmap of the Terrain Mesh, that's why the on-track/deformation looks so good in those games.

We had to switch to Unreal Engine before making MX vs ATV All Out because our custom REFLEX/ALIVE engine needed too much work to add next-gen rendering features, and our tools were getting harder and harder to keep up to date without breaking 1000 other thing. It's very hard and time consuming to use a custom game engine and keep it up-to-date.

The Terrain System in Unreal Engine is great, but it wasn't made specifically for a Dirt Bike game, so there are a lot of features missing, for example, Terrain Decals cannot affect the Terrain's Heightmap like they did in our custom engine, and they are also a lot more expensive to render. We had to re-write everything from scratch for All Out, so there are still a lot of features missing like the ability to have pre-made terrain deformation to deform the track before you start racing on it, for example. But we're slowly getting there and improving our Terrain features, although there are certain things we just cannot do due to how Unreal's Terrain System works.

  5. Yoo, Alive is my FAVORITE of the MXvATV series and they slick chose the best 3 maps for this DLC, just short of Yukiyama.

If anyone still plays Alive on
Xbox, @ me. I’d like someone to compete against for best lap times.

  6. They've gotta fix the ridiculous wreck mechanics. You wreck when you shouldn't and don't when you should. I've seen the janky superman seat grab looking wreck more times than I can count.
