Detroit Lions Season In The Balance | Detroit Lions Podcast

In this episode of the Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Jeff are back with the latest Detroit Lions rumors and news. The Detroit Lions season hangs in the balance of their upcoming game against the Green Bay Packers. Both teams have everything to play for as each needs a win to make the playoffs. The Lions needs some additional help from a Seattle Seahawks loss to make the playoffs, but controlling what you can control is what good teams do, and the Lions have been a good team in the last half of the 2022 NFL season.

Detroit Lions Podcast Ready To Move On From Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers

There has been the standard Aaron Rodgers bad mouthing going on, but this time the Detroit Lions are actually a formidable foe for the Green Bay Packers. Having beaten the Packers earlier in the season, the Lions are ready to show that it wasn’t a fluke, and the team has made it over the “hump” into the realm of being a real contender in the NFL. This season has meant so much to the Lions organization and its fans – proof laid bare that the team is ahead of schedule in its rebuild.

Chris has talked about the “passing of the torch”, what a Lions win in Lambeau Field means for the franchise not just today, or this season, but in the process of exorcising the ghosts of the past and moving this team toward the playoffs, victories in the playoffs, and ultimately a Super Bowl championship. This would be that fairy tale story that Lions fans have been hoping for for over six decades. There is a lot to cover ahead of the Detroit Lions and Green Bay Packers game at Lambeau Field this week. Its going to be an awesome show, so buckle up!

  1. You're right Jeff. There are some people who have crapped on the Lions for so long it's part of their identity now. They won't admit it but if the Lions get good they're going to fight not criticizing the Lions with everything they have. Detroit could win a SB and those people will say "It doesn't mean anything until they win two Super Bowls."

  2. Dude, fans aren’t stupid! We know the players are people just like us. Give us some credit. This kind of tragedy benefits the media. Just saying…we know they’re people too.

  3. Im taking monday off for the game. Im german so this one starts at 2 in the morning and it feels like the superbowl to me, even if seattle wins I just dont want the Packers to win sooo badly ^^. I think the Patricia Era stole my soul (altough I dont believe in that kind of stuff 😉 ) but man until like midseason I was watching all the games but… I didnt get excited, neither did I get frustrated. Now they got me excited to watch the games again. Last time I was so excited about the lions was during the Suh/Schwartz Era. Lets do this.

  4. I love that scene from hard knocks, he needs to give this team a speech like that as we go out and play the Packers, that's the kind of vision these players need in there head and what we need to do to the Packers. If they go in with that mindset, we can win in Lambeau this year for the first time in a long time.

  5. Alec Ogletree was in no way a terrible pick by the Rams. He had several huge splash plays over his time with the team, earned a large second contract and then was promptly dealt to the NY Giants after signing his extension and completing the 2017 season. He ran the Rams defense and led the team in tackles for much of his career there. Things did not work out for Ogletree in New York since the team was terrible in the last Eli years, but after missing 2020 he came back in 2021 to play well in Chicago in 2021. You may even remember Ogletree skying in the end-zone in Chicago to tip away a sure TD pass from Goff to Swift last season. Holmes always found value in undrafted, or later round picks, for the edge & LB positions with guys like Cory Littleton and Samson Ebukam but Ogletree was a bonus late first round pick back in 2013 from the RGIII trade haul.
