“I’d never seen a case like this. The verdict stunned legal experts – in effect the jury decided words could be a murder weapon. Conrad’s mother granted ’48 Hours’ a rare interview and our report presented the most complete portrait of a gentle young man who struggled with social anxiety. Would Conrad be alive today if he hadn’t met Michelle?” — Erin Moriarty on why the story is important.

Crocodile tears of Michelle….guilty!
It is like pushing someone off a cliff!
I feel so bad for his family 😭 poor Conrad if only he'd had a good friend who cared about him he'd still be here today 😢
She is nothing.. what a terrible, nothing of a human being for talking to him that way.
If she was “intoxicated” by the Celexa she had been taking for three months, I would suspect that her doctor would have ceased the therapy. Or, it’s a lie. In a three month span, the body should have adjusted enough to the medication. It takes about four to six weeks for the body to adjust and obtain the full benefit of the drug. I don’t know what her dosage was or if her doctor was tapering her up to a certain dosage. However, even with tapering, her body would generally have been fine because there was already a steady amount of the drug in her system. Celexa is a newer antidepressant (it’s been around since the late 1990’s, if I’m remembering correctly). Newer SSRI antidepressants tend to have fewer side effects than tricyclic antidepressants or MAOI’s. Or was she “intoxicated” because she purposely took the medication incorrectly? A doctor would have noticed if she was requesting additional refills too early. It just seems like a stupid excuse. She knew what she was doing. She was purposeful and tried to set up a narrative to make the family believe that she truly cared about Conrad.
RIP Conrad. You didn’t deserve to know this vile young woman. You deserved better. I’m sure your parents love you, even in death.
Evil girl
Antidepressants are a mood changer. I took them for about 6 months and didn't like how they made me feel. Glad I stopped
What? You serious? Those messages are just… Something I can't even find words for it. Clearly something wrong would've happen in someone's life who came across with such a lying and careless mind at some point, and in one way or another she had to learn her leasson. Its just sad it had to be this kid who already needed help. I mean he wasn't thinking straight for sure, to point he didn't Saw the obvious lack of care in those messages, let Alone the lack of love and the wrong intentions. Really? Some girl just saying me to "do it"? Telling me to just forget about my parents feelings about my life? To just "not Fking wait more"?? I prey for any soul who goes through this weak and blind state of mind.
What an evil monster of a women !
This young man really reminded me of my son who suffers from Anxiety and depression. What a sad tale.
For sure the woman should face Prison imho.
My condolences to his family.
Her eyebrows are a crime!!!!!!!
Her face kind of reminds me of Chucky from Childs Play
This comment section is as horrifying as this case. Listen up you insane people, first; The mother, right at the start, is talking about her DEAD son who KILLED HIMSELF and babels about him not being good enough for them. This is on CAMERA. In an INTERVIEW. POSTmortem. What a sick, twisted person she is. Why aren't you calling her out?! And SECOND; do any of you idiots have any idea how evil a precedent you are setting blaming the girl for HIM killing HIMSELF?! This wasn't an adult coercing an impressionable youth to self harm, she was his PEER you psychos! Two depressed, backwards thinking youths. A tragic and sad tale to be sure but the ADULTS around them FAILED them. That's what happened. If anyone should be facing jail time it's the JUDGE and PROSECUTOR for throwing a young woman in jail under the pretense that she "Should have told him not do it." There is NO law FORCING SPEECH for very good reason and they damn sure should know that. The only crime she could possibly be convicted of in a sane society is the lowest level manslaughter for not calling for help when she thought he was dying. That's it. You're mad comment section, you're all mad and the judge in this case is a criminal.
It's not akin to loading a weapon then handing it over though as shown in the sentencing, that girl has some major major problems think she has a lifetime of unhappiness+bitterness ahead of her
How she isn't seen as a d@nger to others is what I find most concerning. If indeed she herself suffers with mental health issues, where's the court order to get the help needed.
It is my hope that she doesn't edge anyone else to their de@th. My sincere condolences to Conrad's family.
I know… its how a demon would whisper to any person to do bad deeds
I hope life takes care of her
She’s evil and disgusting, why would you say those disgusting things to someone .
She’s not even ‘mid’ either.
My condolences go out to Conrad's family, and I hope that Conrad is in a better place, free from all the pain and suffering of this world. 🙏❤️
Michelle Carter will have to live with what she did for the rest of her life.
I don’t think I’ve ever prayed for jungle justice before but what this girl did to her friend was deplorable & the justice system killed him all over again! I just pray karma bites her badly
I've been saying this for years. talking about suicide to young adults is the main cause of increasing numbers of suicide… i never had a suicidal thought until my school showed us a movie on the subject. i was 13… even the education system is to blame here
She deserved much more for the pain and suffering she caused his family and friends, even Conrad himself. He was in pain and instead of trying to help him by encouraging him to seek help from his family, she helped him die…in anguish and pain. His family will never recover. 15months??? She deserves so much more, imo.
Deep depression (the kind that is felt physically rather than circumstantially) in a person in that age group points to prolonged chronic sleep deprivation from being awakened in the extreme early morning. His family's diving business required them to wake up at abnormally early morning hours, which is especially harmful for people in their teens and early twenties, because their circadian rhythms are delayed by several hours. This is why it's so common for that age group to be wide awake until well after midnight and then sleep through a good part of the morning. That later sleep schedule is actually GOOD FOR THEM, so please parents (and teachers)…for the sake of both their physical and mental health, let them sleep until they're done!!!
nobody thinks about something until the subject is presented to you. he wouldn't even have the thought of suicide if it wasn't presented to him before he met this girl. her involvement obviously played a part however I'd be real curious where he first learned about suicide… don't present these acts of self violence to your kids and if it's the schools that are presenting this type of behavior then somebody needs to speak out!
I'm sorry but it is not her fault 🙄
Like, what a like sad like story.
I’m curious how it feels defending someone knowing deep down he’s doing the wrong thing
