  1. This is very true, but the more you practice something the more you will inevitably get at it. What used to be technical for you becomes less so. That is why people that are musicians tend to be into more “technically” advanced music. They understand and are able to process it easier. Whereas people that are not necessarily musicians will tend to like simpler music that they can understand or relate to more. Most people aren’t musicians or musically inclined (Me included). That’s possibly part of the reason bands like nirvana and pixies are so popular and look at pop music and how many people dig that.

  2. On the other hand, Nirvana's music is not diatonic enough to be considered "simple", in my opinion. On another hand, Dave has a great drum solo in Stay Away. Also, his playing in School and New Wave Polly is very technical and precise. The simplest part of Nirvana's music is the song structures.

  3. Nirvana's music is simple in terms of song structure and musicianship, but harmonically Kurt used very unorthodox chord progressions that you will not find in any other pop songs, so they are very experimental in that regard.
