Hostile Mars a quick look at this Tower defence Builder

Described as Satisfactory Versus Orcs Must Die it does have a little something to it. The waves of enemies get huge and the destruction is satisfying. Still pretty buggy and the factory end of it feels a bit unnecessary in a way. Streamline the factory bit of this game and you would be left with a nice little time sink.

  1. The techtree looks awful.
There is no reason to have it that zoomed in with a need for scrolling around
especialy with that much empty space inbetween the icons.

The combat effects need to be toned way down. There is no use flinging enemies into the air
if it results in you not being able to see whats behind them for several seconds.

Pickup range should be higher outside of combat.
Running around for 30+ seconds after each wave will get old fast.

If they stay with the tiered crafting system there needs to be a unified menu
so you are not running around between 6 different stations just to make ammo.
Idealy that menu would be accesible remotely while near the main station.
Being able to start the next wave without having to jump down the roof and all that.

Some indicators how far along the current wave is.
    Total number of enemies.
Cumulative health of enemies still alive.

Overall im not a fan of the artstyle. There is to much focus on flashiness
and to little in making things clear and distinct.

  2. If you enjoy this type of games in which there a little part of a creating a base and at the same time, you want to mass destroy every enemy, you should check out Rift Breaker. I beat the game when it came out and it was pretty fun, im sure you would like it.

  3. Damn impressive engine, running all those robots at once!
Looks like it could be a really good game when completed.
The Dev REALLY needs a transport or conveyor system between storage and each machine though, I can see it being really tiresome having to manually move each item around to build stuff.

  4. "Satisfactory Versus Orcs Must Die" is so apt. Orcs must die (and its sequels) is one of my absolute favorite 3rd person tower defense games. I'm glad they also have an unstuck button for their Alpha, but I wish the resource gathering element for the basebuilding was more finite ala Starcraft. Perhaps gathering Mars rock could change the terrain a bit, expose new corridors for the robot waves or for base expansion. Maybe they could be revitalized with asteroid showers every so often like ONI? Still, if the bugs and optimization can be smoothed out, I may try the HM when the Beta opens on Steam. Unrelated, but your audio is super quiet for this vid.

  5. I'm reminded a lot of Sanctum and Sanctum 2 gameplay with this. It's got more base building and farming elements, but the core 'build a maze of death for enemy waves' element seems to be the same. I adore Sanctum 1 and 2 so this is definitely going on my wishlist and hope it just gets better 🙂

  6. If you like a factorio/satisfactory + base defense – I recommend trying out Fortresscraft Evolved – it doesn't look much, but it's got a really deep crafting and factory side and endless waves. Another game you might want to try out is From the Depths.

  7. Hey buddy! 😀
Found your channel today and saw some videos of Rimworld and then ended up here. :p

I really enjoy the mix of action and resource management that this game seem to deliver, but are there any games already like these? I have never played games like Factorio or Satisfactory and I usually don't like the "survival games" with base building, except of the building part.
(Thinking of ARK, H1Z1, ARMA etc)
Love Frostpunk for some reason tho. Like the resource management.

So are there any games like this one out there? 🙂

    Thanks for your time!

    /Eric
