Wow, I just watched the music video on YouTube and this song and video is VERY occultic. I see many different flavors in this, alot of imagery. It has a Lord of the rings feel to it. The white horse in the video just like shadowfax from LOTR
I call them rock' n roll hobbits. All kidding aside, incredible talent. Have you seen the interview of Robert Plant discussing them?
Listening to this song gives me such an anxiety in my spirit, almost as if they are trying to cast a spell through their music. I get the same feeling with Led Zeppelin music, I don't think I could listen to a Christian song with the Led Zeppelin chords. This is just me. Their weird effeminate appearance brings me thoughts of wizards and occultism.
If I am going to listen to a Led Zepp tribute band I prefer Kingdom Come
They released the official video just 3 days ago ..its a great one ,love it , weird with some nordic tone in it….. The 'Ram..Ram ,Ram' part is a musical reference to their song 'TripThe Light Faantastic" from their last album, 'Battle At the Garden's Gate' .
"Faith is believing what you know ain't true."—-Samuel Clemens. They are thumbing their noses at the myopic transphobes. Watching Christians getting triggered is schadenfreudelicious. Don't forget, they're part of the Jahooz. The Peaceful Army isn't going to be intimidated by repression and small thinking while a toxic brand of Christianity creeps across the globe. "Faith is Hope on steroids."–Me. Stay kind, take a religious history course and a comparative religion class. Conjure some magik and break the cultish spell of Trumpublicanism. Mango Mussolini has mesmerized his minions. Recognize the real threat. Semper Vigilans. "Treat everyone you meet like God in drag." "Every religion is the product of the conceptual mind attempting to describe the mystery."–both by Richard Alpert.
I love audiotopsy. Learning about frequencies and hidden agendas in music is eye opening and puts me on guard.
This is a fan made video lol wtf
According to the band themselves on the meaning: “Meeting the Master peers into an esoteric world heeded by the word of a wise teacher. Sung in the voice of a devout believer, and eventful group exclamation, the song details the love these fervent followers have for their teacher and their firm belief in his vision. It’s an exotic spiritual journey. A dark comedy that inevitably ends in chaos.”
These boys grew up as Catholics and have made mention of God in their songs, for example in the song “Age of Machine” they say “God knows if you feel defeated.” Their songs often promote peace and love and also promote the preservation and love of nature. I think the notion that they are “ripping off Zeppelin” is outdated. They have shown major progressions in their own sound, particularly in their last album, The Battle at Gardens Gate.
Greta Van Fleet consists of 3 brothers Josh (singer), Jake (Lead Guitarist), and Sammy (Bass & keys), their long time friend Danny (Drummer). They are NOT a Led Zeppelin tribute or cover band, they write their own songs. Growing up their influences were from the classic rock and blues era of 60ps and 70's. so they type of music they love and write is that style. They are not intentionally copying anyone in particular, just music from that era. Josh's voice developed the way it is because when they stated out practicing in their garage, it was hard to hear him so he learned to belt out over the music. These guys are very into nature and a lot of their music rellects that. By the way, Josh does not have a perm, he just ended up with curley hair and Jake straight hair.
Exactly….he can’t help that he has that incredible voice
How fortunate that you could see them before the fame
I love the fashion ect
Thru the years, look at all the fashion there has been….hippy, glam ect
I don't understand why you would think that a band have patent on a cord. Also I do not understand how you fail to understand that this kind of talent is God given. Why demonize this song, the costumes, the lyrics ect.
Don't you think that God want's us to find joy in all kinds of music? Even if the lyrics is not about Jesus?
The latest video is very good I think, better than this desert one. He dresses more like Freddy from Queen , his shorter perm hair was popular in 70!s he’s not trying to copy Robert plant specific . He is a big John Denver fan . Yes we wish this band and more would sing. About Christ
They are christian. Y’all have too much time on your hands. You really need to do your research before spouting disparities. These guys care about nature, humans, love and peace. They donate a lot of time and money to help out people and good causes. They are autodidactic with their instruments ….,they all can play multiple instruments.and write all their songs. They have been playing for years in snow covered Michigan. Formed the band in 2012. They are very close to their parents. Their dad introduced them to the blues when but babes by playing guitar and singing to them. He still plays gigs in a blues band to this day.Their parents and grandparents introduced them to old vinyls. Jake the guitarist started playing at 3 was into rock, Josh always sang and loves world music. Sam the pianist and bassist was into jazz. Danny the drummer is a long time family friend and was into folk music. They were 13 when they wrote highway tune their biggest hit. Josh loves theater and movies . Josh wanted to do something in film. He may well do that in the future. They are just supper creative kids that had parents who supported that. Frankenmuth is a lovely little town they grew up in…With lovely people. They even named their band after a town elder. Stop being so negative. Is music not suppose to evoke feelings. You can make anything negative and read anything into something.
Why do you care what they wear. Seems petty to bring that up. They have always dressed different. They picked a label who would let them do their own thing. We need more good things out in the world. I feel sad after watching this vid. Why do people have tear everything down.
Have a blessed day ..a fellow christian
A Christian is a person who follows and believes in Jesus Christ the Son of God who was crucified for our sins. He died and arose so those who believe in Him will be saved from Hell and complete separation from God and Heaven. There is a Heaven for those who are saved and follow Jesus and Hell for those who reject him. It's in the Bible, so God said it.
I think this song is about the futility of following a false prophet.
Please improve the sound quality
And yes there is cults that call themselves Christians
😂 ohk
My daughter grew up with these boys here in Frankenmuth. They are definitely not Culty. She knows them as very nice boys.
I think this is ridiculous!! They are just a group of highly talented musicians that promote peace and love. Stop spouting this ridiculous rubbish. Its comical!!
As a millennial that grew up listening to a lot of classic rock, I find this like a breath of fresh air to the crap that’s being played today.
Josh says that if he grows his hair it turns into Jake's hair. If Jake cut his hair it would look like Josh's hair. I think he just wants it to be different.
Did not care for this one…not a Zeppelin fan, at all! I get more Geddy Lee from his voice than Robert Plant. I'd prefer Stevie Ray Vaughn myself, Vicki!! 😉
It’s a fine balance, listening to a band and the music without inserting yourself into it's reality. But yet, here you are.
No other band these days has the burden of proving that they are who they are more than GVF. Reactors and detractors gleefully 'ramble on' with disparaging comparisons only to finally BEGRUDGINGLY admit that GVF is unique in and of themselves and do not need creative crutches to compose and perform music worthy of standing on it's own merits.
On the business side of things: A band is a business pure and simple: the music, personalities, and essence is a packaged commodity to be bought and sold. It is quite apparent that the marketing and branding team surrounding GVF have successfully kept GVF in the public's ear and thus in their pocketbooks in part by delicately not addressing the common comparison controversy. They have brilliantly used this public debate to engage a good portion of the world. Need evidence? You have 'rambled on' (now there's a reference for you!) for over one hour on what deserves maybe a casual mention in passing in the grand scheme of life. More evidence? I have spent too much time typing this comment and so I will shut up now and go make a nice dinner and open a bottle of wine. Have a great day! Peace.
My BFF since junior high has lived in Frankenmuth for years, and remembers when the boys were very young and had part time jobs in a local store and waited on them. They were raised Catholic, their mom taught Sunday school and their moms toured with them until they were old enough to tour on their own. They grew up listening to their parents and grandparents records, so their could be an unconscious influence as well as perhaps some intentional influence from the music they heard. They have other references to God in other songs. Early on they played at a party hosted by Elton John and he suggested they wear more flamboyant stage costumes. If you see them in interviews it’s jeans, shirts and denim jackets.
Yes, they write their own music. They have a cabin the hills of Tennessee where they go to write without being bothered. I don’t know that their label has that much influence.
Many think this song is not about Jesus. Well my friends there is one God and his name is Jesus Christ. All other things that are mistakenly worshipped, are just parts of Him. But the love and Holy Spirit of Jesus is what is drawing you to the light , you just have to open your eyes a little wider and the light will lead you to your Salvation in Jesus. Is Jesus in your heart my friend?
