Chandler Limited RS660 | Lead Vocal Demo (No Talking)

The Chandler Limited RS660 is Chandler’s take on the iconic Fairchild 660 plus more! This is not strictly a Fairchild clone, this is Wade Goeke’s take on what the progression of the 660 and RS124 Abbey Road sound may have arrived at if you blended the two!

  1. It looks like it has an amazing tone. Thanks for this little demo!
What do you think of its attack speed compared to the rs124?

I just got a 176 that is just amazing. I use it for a lot of sources but mostly vocals. I was going to get a 124 later on and run it through my 176. But this one really makes me curious…
I'm really looking forward to your feedback when you get to know it well! Thanks for your videos, the quality, the time you spend on it. A pure pleasure man.

  2. I thought the compressor sounded fantastic, just truly delicious color and the appropriate amount of compression. I have to say though that the limiter sounded like it was over limiting despite your low input. For example "briiiight" at 1:38 and "broooken" at 1:44. Both of those are limited way too intensely for my taste. The 660 limiting choked off the artist's expression and dynamics far too much. The joy was lost. At low inputs/threshold. Are you able to disclose what the input dBu was? From what I heard hear the limiter would be of limited use. I really wish we could have heard the THD. It would most certainly be mild, but given your success at expressing the deliciousness of the PSS I'm sure you could make the THD of the 660 shine 🙂

  3. I liked how it makes the vocals sound more focused compared to the dry signal. Release times 1 and 2 sounded the best. Comp mode was more smooth and natural, while the limit mode was more rock and roll sounding. Can't wait to hear how it sounds on the other sources and how the THD mode sounds.
Thank you Josh for your videos!!! Speedy recovery to you!!!

  4. This sounds great on your vocal! Would love to hear your thoughts on how it compares to the retro Sta level. I want to add a second compressor to my vocal chain which is currently (Great Rivers- Retro 176).
