  1. Learn by looting can be a problem when your progression is locked behind a rare drop. Potentially a game where you never find a crucible/schematic so never…ever…get the ability to make steel. The vast majority of us have experienced that or something similar. There's a reason that people aren't pleased to hear that there's going to be more of it.

  2. Not to be negative… I'm fine with learning by looting if they have it right but personally I will really miss those random finds that come a few times a play through that save you a bunch of time and work.

  3. I honestly think people just want a reason to be mad at TFP at this point. I like the game so much that I bought it TWICE… along with a PC to play it on. Perks of them continuing to sell a broken console port that doesn't come with a warning letting us know they probably aren't going to update it. But you know what? that's fine, I loved it. So I jump into Alpha 19.4 from Alpha 15 and realize that the way I play the game is basically not possible anymore. Instead of adding mechanics to the game to make it better TFP have been adding and removing things to force people to play it a certain way or just simply changing the entire game's mechanics making people have to learn how to play it all over again. And then you hear that they're gonna change them again…

Okay, yeah, I'm a little irritated now. Pretty sure a lot of other people are irritated with them as well and I feel like that is perfectly reasonable. The game was fine 6 years ago. clean it up, make it look decent, and stop touching it. I swear if the controller for the PCs version of Alpha 15 worked like the console's controller I'd set my game back to Alpha 15 and just play that. It was fine. It was just buggy, laggy, and didn't look great. "vOcAl MiNoRiTy" lol. Did you forget how many people play this game on console, or like me, moved to PC and bought the game twice? If you've only played it on PC and like to play it the way THEY WANT YOU TO PLAY IT then of course you're okay with it and looking forward to the next update. You haven't been screwed yet. You're the real minority.

  4. @TimRicky . . In regard to nerd poling. First, in a sandbox game, please play the game the way you want to, you bought it, play it in a way that you have fun.

Now the question: Why do streetlamps provide forged steel if nerd poling is not a designed game mechanic? The game literally has rewards for stacking blocks. Building ability also requires the player to be able to stack blocks. Maybe this topic is diversionary attempt to distract players from the glass jars controversy that has so many upset.

And if FP does get rid of stacking blocks, shouldn't digging be removed from the game as you can exploit holes to your advantage. And what about hopping up to get sight of a container to access the contents so you don't have to waste the time to nerd pole up to it?

And in case anyone thinks I nerd pole to bypass a POI for the main loot. I very rarely do so. I like running and looting POI's.

  5. I can agree that the current progression system is busted as all hell and I do agree learn by looting would be a decent change to remedy the current jumping progression problem but part of me still thinks learn by doing was the best implementation of it and it just needed an invisible cap of items you can craft daily/weekly that contributes to the progression exp, any more crafted items beyond that cap would not contribute and would just be a waste of materials.
Another way to balance learn by doing is implementing a diminishing returns system where items crafted for the first time gives the biggest exp but beyond that and after a certain amount, the returns aren't worth the effort gathering the materials and crafting. Making stone tools, or actually any item, give 0 exp after crafting an X amount would also help curb people's abuse of it and the only other way to advance is to repair tools and the amount of exp gained from repairing is directly proportional to the durability repaired of said item, again to curb the abuse by making T1 items not worth to keep breaking and repairing or repairing tools after spending only 100 durability.
I understand coding is hard and this could result in spaghetti and bugs but by no means I am demanding they do this, I'm just expressing frustration as a customer that payed for the product since I did like the game very much and I wanted to support them instead of borrowing the game from my brother's account and getting it free that way or you know sailing the high seas.

  6. Personally I love watching your build montages and it would be great if you could do a How to video on your castle I would love to recreate it with my own vibe on it ❀️❀️

  7. I partially understand the people that do not want the change. But it is related to how you play the game. They made the zombies in a terminator style, they always know the fastest path, they can break any block. They took away the longplay aspect of the game by forcing people to play in the fun pimp style. Want to do realistic play? No can do since bare zombie hands can break concrete in minutes it seems, want to do stealth? nope, trigger rooms for all. Make a nice and logically build base geared for survival? nope, zombies can break every block and are as smart as a homing missle now.

They were so focused on making people play in their specific vision of how to play, that most players now play a quick and easy 60 ingame day style of the game. Min max characters, conga line style zombie base, quick and easy acces to heavy weapons for the tower defense style gameplay designed to waste recources.

If they want a game that would compliment the new learning system, bring back scent, stealth and the zombies can pile up on eachother aspect.

Instead of having zombies auto calculate the best way in a base by magic block durability vision, make them "smell' the way the player goes in and out, make the zombies able to pile up on eachother and go over walls this way, make a horde camp out by doors they smell were used by players so they can't use them anymore without thinning the herd. Make being stealthy and silent matter again by increasing the zombies that roam towards light, noise and scent.
Made a stew in a campfire today, 10 zombies are gonna come and check out that spot in a matter of hours. Lights on at night time while the curtains are open? Hello zombie's at the doors and windows. Bird saw you? make them call the zombies , they are scavengers so makes sense, zombies leave gorepile's after eating a player and they get to eat that.

The people that play that way are the people that like the learning system the most as it spreads out the enjoyment. Don't make people fight 30 zombies every week for weeks on end with a pipe pistol because they don't loot enough or don't meta the game enough. Make the pressure about survival and not about having the resources to fend of a horde of zombies every 7 days for no dang reason. Also i dislike traprooms, what would make zombies hide in a group in that way. who boarded up the fake walls and ceilings? Make it a zombie survival game again, not a sandbox tower defense.
Make certain blocks unbreakable so people want to build nicer compounds again, doors can remain breakable but the danger of the horde is the presence around your camp, make it so your player begins to feel sick with the smell of all the rotting meat around them, make getting hit more dangerous. Broke your leg? goodluck crawling and passing out, got an infection? Use antibiotics to keep it from spreading or increasing but curing it? Nope, that needs to be done by making a special serum in a lab and must remain cool to not spoil.

TL;DR: System as it is now goes perfect with the tower defense style the fun pimps made the game to be.
Want your new system to work? the game itself has to be reworked to avoid meta gaming to be needed.

  8. mY FIRST THOUGHT ON THE EYE MOTIFE WAS 'LADY PARTS'. Take that as it you see fit.
Also, how are you not dead after that bear loot raid?! Is there a contest for first creator to hit 1 HP that I am not aware of?

  9. Imo when it comes to nerd pulling, what's the difference between that and putting ladders on the side of buildings? Is it using any shapes considered nerd pulling or is it the jumping and placing a block under your feet?
