Today we’re talking the brat remix album ‘brat and it’s completely different but also still brat’. We’ll talk about the new perspectives that she and collaborators like Caroline Polachek, Ariana Grande, Tinashe, Billie Eilish, Kesha, and more. We’ll talk about all the tracks (and I might go on a little too much about faves like Sympathy is a Knife, Everything is Romantic, and Girl, so confusing.

  1. I can definitely say the lead up to the release was very interesting, seeing everyone list out which artist they wanna see/see fit for each track. My personal wish list was Taylor Swift on Sympathy is a knife, Carly Rae Jepsen on Talk talk, Marina on Apple, and Tove Lo on B2b.

  2. I feel like an asshole for saying it, but I prefer the So I remix to the original, and again, I feel horrible for saying it, but the original feels almost maudlin. I'ts a heavy subject, and I was personally also very sad about the death of SOPHIE while of course no where near what Charli experiences and she and her were close friends and collaborators, and the remix highlighting their good experiences together feels like a better tribute. I often skipped the original on the album, because the tone shift not to mention the verbal pauses are very jarring.

    My least favorite of the remixes was Rewind. Because the orignal is very good, and the remix doesn't really add anything and I just do not get the appeal of Bladee at all. I love Yung Lean on 360, but Bladee doesn't bring anything near that level.

  3. I love this remix album! I appreciate how so many of the remixes are completely different songs because we don't see nearly enough of that nowadays. My personal favorites on the album were the 365, B2b, So I, Sympathy is a knife, Club classics, and Girl, so confusing remixes. The Spring breakers remix with Kesha that was released yesterday was also pretty great.

    Also, I saw that jazz legend Herbie Hancock is credited on the Mean Girls remix, which is crazy because how did Charli manage to get him on the track??

  4. Honestly, I know this gets thrown around so easily, but this era, this project, whatever you wanna call it, is going down in history. Like who can you think of that has dropped two (or two and a half, maybe?) versions of an album within a year that has made such an impact, that has had such a life outside of its usual circles? Heck, Charli even made waves in politics…
    I love both versions and will surely be getting a lot of plays out of them for years to come.

  5. i loved a few of the remixes but i hate that she collabed with the 1975. it felt like a PR move for Matty Healy. idk if she’s included other problematic features in her discography but this personally alienated me as a listener 🙁

  6. Ariana's version is probably the worst because she's just lying the whole time.

    She's asked people to stop commenting on her body yet. But it's fair to ask whether or not she's had a nose job. She looks so incredibly different from 20/20 till now that it's weird that she expects people just to ignore the appearance change.

    Yeah okay. Whatever her voice is higher because she's playing glinda in wicked. She's also just articulating differently so again… Why is she so confused that people are calling out how different she is.

    People are pretending like she should be using aave because it makes her " music better ". I think she's just making the white girl pop music shes been making her whole life until 2016; 7 rings came out and she started rapping and became BROWN.

    What do you mean? It's a knife when people are complaining that you're not admitting to multiple surgeries on your face??

    It's literally a knife when you spend $9,000 to have your eyes stretched back.

  8. Maybe I’ll give this album another chance because I dived into it and didn’t like some of the remixes. Either I wasn’t in the right headspace to listen or I was just expecting something else from it? Still, my favourites are;
    -girl so confusing w/ Lorde: learning the lore behind it as a new fan of Charli and a former hater of Lorde (couldn’t stand hearing Royals everywhere lol) this remix led me to settle my one sided beef with her and listen to the rest of her music. She has so many better songs than Royals lmao. So I guess I worked it out on the remix too lmao
    -Talk Talk w/ Troye Sivan;been a fan of his for years, and the original Talk Talk is my 2nd favourite off Brat (behind 365) so to hear him on that song and to see him and Charli collab again is nice!
    -Spring Breakers w/ Kesha: a nice, welcome surprise, I’ve LOVED Kesha since high school, so to see these two party girls collab makes me so happy!

  10. Always impressed by your knowledge and analysis of pop music in general and pop girlies in particular. I'd be interested in your opinion on kpop (any thoughts on Jennie, Lisa, Aespa?). You should put CD covers that you like as your backdrop, just a suggestion. Anyway great video as usual!
