Farmington, Utah — On March 1, 2023, at approximately 3:22pm, a Farmington Police officer attempted a traffic stop on a vehicle which had an illegitimate license plate. The driver of the vehicle pulled into a parking stall at the US Post Office located at 145 East State Street. Body-worn camera shows that the driver rolled the window of the vehicle down only a few inches and refused to provide identification or cooperate with the officer in any way. The driver asserted his independence from the laws of the land as well as his belief that he was not required to provide information to the officer, nor was he required to cooperate. The initial officer called for assistance and continued efforts to provide the driver with information and options, but to no avail. A supervisor, and two officers, one with a trainee assigned to him, responded to assist. The driver was ultimately identified as 25-year-old Chase Allan.

Officers exhausted multiple further attempts to persuade Allan to cooperate and ordered him to exit the vehicle. When Allan still refused to exit the vehicle, an officer opened the door to the car and another officer attempted to remove Allan from the vehicle. At that time an observing officer yelled out the words “gun, gun, gun!” A struggle, which appeared to last only seconds, ensued and gun shots could be heard. Officers secured Allan and began rendering aid to him. A holster was found on Allan’s right hip, as well as a gun on the floor of the driver side of the car. Allan was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. Police have not alleged Allan fired a gun during the confrontation. Allan’s family has sharply criticized the department and alleged their loved one died in a “brutal murder” while Allan sat in his car “likely terrified,” according to reports. Allan’s relatives also claimed the police were “stonewalling” them and didn’t notify them of Chase’s death, they reportedly found out through the media.

  1. I wish people can just obey the law and stop pretending you have rights and free sovereignty because that can lead to more dangerous situations when the law is involved and you're resisting or not providing information to the officer of the law. Doing so will make you a dangerous criminal that will lead to one or more officers using authorised force to make your life a living hell. So obey and have a nice day!

  2. He's attitude right from the start was cocky and arrogant, not the "likely terrified" state his family wants to claim

  3. "The driver asserted his independence from the laws of the land"

Oddly, this is the only country people like that crop up. I have a feeling that pulling something like this in Central America would not go as well.

  4. This will continue untill police get better training and pass a stringent psychological evaluation before being allowed to carry a badge and a weapon. Police are 4x more likely to have domestic violence issues than the general population. This officer was condescending and wanted to escalate this encounter. They will investigate themselves and find no wrongdoing as usual. They are trained at tha academy to be cowards. Just write the damn ticket and be done with it!

  5. Police have edited (manipulated) video. Hence the delay in release. The reason for the delay is that the murdered man never reached for a gun. In fact, when he was pulled from the vehicle, the gun was still firmly in the holster.Police saw the gun in the holster after he was shot and killed but still in the vehicle. A radio call went out for all officers to turn off body cameras. After turning off cameras, an officer removed the murder victim, pulled the gun from the holster and planted in on the floor of the car to support the officers narrative. This tampering of evidence was witnessed by a New York Times reporter who has reported the story in the New York Times. Other outlets will report this gun planting this coming week including the Salt Lake Tribune. Police need to remember that it isn't the crime that gets you; it's the cover up of the crime.
