  2. I VERY STRONGLY DISAGREE. more coolant flow = more heat transfer. You and Derek (and i'm sure others) have both said you have to restrict the flow to give the coolant time to absorb heat. Although i have tremendous respect for both of you guys, that's just not the case.

  3. What about a 1997 f250 460 and overdrive trans transplant. It would make good power and the OD would give you cruising rpm with the 3.70's Prolly the cheapest power adder available at upullit…

  4. Installing a fuel tank is a 3 man operation, LoL….Two below to balance 'n locate and one above 'ta install the fuel fill neck….Trust me, this is the way 'ta go…Team Spirit…."I Laugh along with everyone"…Been there, done that

  5. As far as the issue with a thermostat: Yes you do need a thermostat. Why?, Because the coolant temp and total engine temperature have to be at 180 Deg. F minimum. 200 Deg F, is a happy level temp. Why, again….. it's for engine thermal efficiency. The engine has to support thorough combustion…A coolant temp of 200 Deg F is a optimal temperature for this reason. WG

  6. Give that nice rod a good bath and polish job….let us see what it really looks like. I'd strip the body down 'n repaint with the factory color, solid body paint, No Stripes, No Pin Striping, No side body trim. Then, detail and repair/replace damaged/worn interior parts. OEM quality stuff like this can be found in advertisements in Hemming's Motor News….DO NOT MAKE THIS ROD A SHOP TRUCK. This rod in it's condition is a mint find, please treat it as one.

An engine refresh would be a good investment….Remove engine, Disassemble and completely recondition. Rebuild using 10:1 pistons and a nice mild street rod cam. Use the facrory cast headers and factory dual exhaust system with High Flow quiet mufflers….Rebuild transmission.
That and a little here'n there stuff would make it nearly new…So 'ta speak….WG

  7. I would leave the low compression engine alone because it is what it is. The Ranchero runs good enough for a decent shop truck to keep or sell as you still have many other trucks also.
