Bears make initial FA splashes, claim lakefront now stadium location focus | Take The North, Ep. 161

The first day of NFL free agency has been a busy one for the Bears — but mostly off the field. David Haugh and Dan Wiederer break it all down. The team did bring in a pair of new players (so far) in running back D’Andre Swift and safety Kevin Byard. What do the guys think of the moves? How many more are still to come? The bigger news is the Bears are now claiming that they’re shifting their focus for a new stadium location to Chicago’s lakefront, close to where Soldier Field is currently. They’re also saying they plan to invest $2 billion in private money. What happened to Arlington Heights? Is this all a ploy to get tax breaks?!? Finally, star cornerback Jaylon Johnson spoke to the media for the first time since signing his lucrative contract extension and offered up some vulnerabilities that we’ve rarely heard athletes discuss. #JaylonJohnson #DAndreSwift #Bears #NFL

  1. As a longtime Bears fan my advice to Caleb Williams is if the Bears draft him he should not sign, sit the year and enter the 25 draft. The Bears are and have been a dead franchise with the Mccaskeys as the owner.

  2. "Because I know I'm not the one going through this." Hands down, my new favorite player in football. What a powerful message. We all have struggles. They vary vastly, but it isn't ever easy. Preach!

  3. Building a new stadium in Chicago is the worst thing they can do.

They killed horse racing by buying the stadium in Arlington Heights. To not do anything with the property would be an insult.

And Chicago is the worst possible location given the population. It’s the east most location with the lake on one side. Arlington heights is the center point of the population. It’s the best location. They really need to get this done in Arlington heights .

  4. I so glad these dude on the score were wrong about trading Justin Fields. Great insight about their feelings…..nothing tangible. I think the wanted to get rid of fields is because he wasn’t slurping for interviews on their station. I don’t listen every day but has the score interviewed Justin Fields at all? That would explain their subliminal hate for the talented young man.
