  1. True that make it BAYAREAUNITE day where all the teams have one day to swap colors i think that is possible….. i remember the classic half A's n half giants cap we have a rich sports history here in the Bay let it shine

  2. Could it be the underling teams trying to capitalize on the more popular teams’ marketability? Let’s be honest. Who would go to a niners game to get an A’s/niners jersey? I’m an A’s fan, and the thought of anything SF with A’s on it is nauseating to me. And don’t get me started on those A’s/Giants hats!! 🤮 🤣

  3. A’s /Raiders was the biggest miss. For whatever reason across different ownership groups from the A’s side at least there was no East Bay symmetry. I put that on both sides being cheesy with each other at the fans expense

  4. Completely agree. with Bay Area Unite, you have the teams that get more publicity than your team (49ers) and youre using them as a marketing vessel. With a team that gets less publicity than you (earthquakes) you are lifting them up. but my question is where does this end? Do the Oakland Roots count for Bay Area Unite? Major League Cricket is supposed to come to the Bay area, do they count? Sounds like the Major teams have decided its just the 4 major sports and sometimes MLS

  5. There have been some Warrior players who threw out the ceremonial first pitch at an A's game this past MLB season; I think Steph and Kuminga did. The Warriors still maintain their relationship with Oakland, even though they play in SF now.

When the Warriors were in Oakland, some Raider players would go to Warrior games and I think Draymond and a couple of other Warrior players would go to a Raider game. Klay used to go to A's games back in the day.

  6. I think the Bay Area Unite thing is a fun social media thing. I see Brodie's point in that it is kind of a hierarchy, but to be fair, the Giants, Warriors, and the Niners are the more popular teams in the Bay, so in a sense it may be easier for those 3 teams to work together for a Bay Area Unite sort of a thing.

With that being said, it was cool to see the Sharks get involved and have a mashup jersey/shersey? of the Warriors and now the Niners. I think the Giants have even did some things with the Sharks where a couple of Giants players (Pablo and I think Lincecum) dropped the puck before a Sharks game. Bochy went to a Sharks game in the past if I'm not mistaken.

The Giants also have a Bay Area Unite thing with some of the Bay Area colleges. The Giants usually have I think a Cal night, a Stanford night, a San Jose State night, a St. Mary's night, a Santa Clara night, a USF night, and an SF State night. Usually for those nights, they give away Giants hats with those schools colors.

I think a lot of this might depend on the teams and if they want to get involved. I think if the San Jose Earthquakes called up the Giants, the Niners, the Warriors, the A's, or the Sharks to do a Bay Area Unite kind of a thing, I'm sure they all would be happy to do it or find a way to promote the San Jose Earthquakes.

  7. Giants have done meshup bobble heads. I still want it. But I feel like it’s based on championship hype. I’m sure things would be different if the Sharks had a couple cups.

  8. You’re 100% right. There’s a hierarchy. The 49ers and warriors don’t need these promotions to fill their venues. Sharks has a full house Saturday and I’d credit a lot of it to the shersey giveaway.

  9. Getting on Jimmy G for not being able to pronounce names but saying people can pronounce 49ers names like it’s nothing is weird considering a lot of hockey players are foreigners. I work for the sharks and can’t say Evgenys last name 😂

  10. I'm a San Jose Shark, a San Jose Earthquake, an LA Ram and a Philadelphia 76er.
I live in London, UK, so no reason to have an allegiance to the Bay Area. And because my teams in the NFL and NBA are elsewhere, I don't really like the niners and warriors.

  11. I think the whole Bay Area Unite thing is odd because from a business standpoint, the Bay Area teams are in competition with each other for the fans’ attention and money.

I would also say that the Earthquakes owners don’t care. Soccer is on the rise in this country. It is very popular with today’s youth as well as the Latin American population and European expatriates in this area. There should be no excuse for the team to be in last place in this big of market known as the greater San Francisco Bay Area.

  12. BayAreaUnite is a strange concept because in reality each team competes against each other for fans. I prefer that because it forces each team to put out the best product. If anything San Francisco should be looking into the pro soccer market like the Roots in Oakland are doing.
