Thanks for 40k! Jirachi Only – Pokemon Emerald

Playthrough Rules:
1. Only my starter in battle
2. No items in battle*
3. No glitches or exploits*
4. No Double-Team TM before level 100*

Other rules:
— *Pokeballs are allowed in battle when I need to catch an HM user
— I play the game at 4x game speed (238 frames per second)
— I allow myself to manipulate my starter (IVs, nature, HP type)
— Using the bike for movement speed increases is banned (it can be used to obtain items)
— Saving between league members is allowed
— If the solo Pokemon faints and I choose to blackout it counts towards my reset counter
— HM Mules cannot use Pickup (I want to ensure that the comparison between Pokemon is as accurate as possible, this RNG would skew things.)
— For random double battles I can use my HM mules, for Tate & Liza, I must use a Magikarp only (this battle cannot be initiated if you have less than 2 Pokemon in your party.)

*Double-Team:
— Almost every Pokemon can learn Double-Team through TM
— Using it would centralize the meta
— Every Pokemon would use it to overcome tough battles at lower levels
— It raises evasion
— It triggers the badge boost
— Banning the TM allows Pokemon who learn it through level up to use it
— I believe evasion is part of Pokemon and shouldn’t be banned entirely
— I don’t want the videos to all be double-team spam though, that’s not fun or entertaining

  1. Your videos are awesome and nice seeing my question being answered. I thought is fun also learning about the person behind the videos.
Congratulations! your videos are incredible and awesome. Impressive to learn how much effort and work is demanded and how you make it seems easy to do it. I don’t have adjectives to describe your channel and everything you created here, just that it’s really compelling watching your videos and enjoy the fun times.
This is not related to Pokemon, but Have you ever played NinoKuni wrath of the white Witch? It’s Pokémon level of game and it’s quite fun. I think Pokémon games should do something similar because I loved NinoKuni.

  2. Congrats Scott! Really nice video, I liked the Q&A. So much cool stuff in the future, I'm really excited for the multi-type venemoth run 😀 Have a good start to the week!

  3. My buddy also had a hard time finding farfetched in yellow. When I told him that I had one he called me a liar until I took him to their location and found one for him.

  4. Since you were into Children of Boredom I have a few recommendations that you might still enjoy: Kalmah, Aephanemer, Insomnium and Whispered. The last one deserves a special mention since it's a couple of finnish dudes dressed as a samurai making melodic death metal.
If you're into tchaikovsky's 5th movement there's a must-listen song with Galneryus- Angel of Salvation

  5. I was unaware that the algorithm doesn’t like when people leave a video at the end of it. I normally leave before the bloopers play. Should I not be doing that in order to help you with the algorithm?

Also this may be a question for 50k subscribers. What are things we can do as viewers to help support the channel and get it out there for others? Leaving more comments, watching until the end, etc? Let me know how I can help Scott.

  6. Scott my man. Ive been watching your videos almost since the beginning and I can’t get enough. The dopamine hit when you comment back is great haha. I love you videos so that you’re the first person I ever paid subscribed to! I tell everyone about your videos, I have them playing on my work computer haha. Congrats on the 40k, keep being awesome.

  7. Does it bother anyone else that electric type moves are not super effective against steel? Like, if the idea that they are super effective against water is that water conducts electricity, and metals are generally the best conductors (not all of them are good conductors, but the best ones are), shouldn't the logic follow through?

  8. There are thoughts on which would be the best starter pokemon from all gens in gen1.
Rumours have it that swampert would be the most solid one but i kinda think Torterra would do the best.

Any plans to do this? Just like the misdreavus run, without using new moves that don't exist in gen1

  9. Congratulations on your 40K, Scott! Great video as usual. I'm not a Pokemon expert as you are, but I think that when you battled Steven for the first time, when Jirachi was lv.59, you should have used Thunderbolt instead of Psychic against Aggron, you would have OHKOed it, since TB was not resisted as Psychic was, making you finish much earlier with much less resets. Just my opinion, though!!! GJ Scott 😎
