"All Quiet In The West…" – Maschinen Krieger WW1 Diorama (Melusine 1/20)

My friends, Maschinen Krieger has been one of the most requested subjects on this channel, but it’s finally here! I wanted to put my own spin on this esoteric genre, and an armored mech suit in WW1 trenches seemed right up my alley!
These models are a wonderful blend between armor and figures. You can use every weathering technique known in the armor modelling world yet the shape of the model makes it feel like a scale figure. And they are great relaxing subjects – a suit like this can be efficiently finished in 3 days!

Disclaimer: I have a good relationship with a handful of modelling brands and stores, namely VMS, Michigan Toy Soldier Company, and AK-Interactive. As such, I’m happy to use their products/services, and show them in my work. In return, they support my efforts in this hobby, although my hands are not bound nor am I obligated to push one brand or the other. Being independent from exclusive sponsorship deals, and instead showing you a variety of paints, techniques, and mediums was one of the founding ideas of this channel and I will always stand by this.

  2. Kind of interesting, I've swapped to doing Warhammer 40k models, and even for vehicles, they too seem like a mix of figure and scale models, even though you'd think it'd be much more akin to 1/64 or 1/35 (realistically it's around 1/60 or 1/55), but because of the style being a game piece, you kind of treat it like a high-contrast figure more than a model tank. And as to your last comment. OMG do I have so many models in my stash.

  3. Normally I wouldn't be into this kind of build because of the Sci-Fi suit I like realistic stuff but I actually watched this from beginning to end awesome video my friend 👍

  4. Question about the Real Earth From Your Garden™, is there anything special you do to dry it out or prepare it? I've thought about throwing some in the oven but I'd rather not incur the wrath of the wife without knowing that it will work 🫡

  5. Reminds me of an older videogame called Silent Storm, which was about an alternate WWII, where powered armor called "panzerklein" was developed. It was not a very good game… but it was fun!

  6. As a Huge Ma.K fan i would love to see you do more models in the series, and I learned A LOT from watching you do this diorama, but my biggest desire to see your take on is the Hildolfr from Gundam Igloo
