The Slovak government approved plans on Friday, March 17, to provide Ukraine with its fleet of 13 Soviet-era MiG-29 fighter jets, becoming the second NATO member state to heed the Ukrainian government’s request for fighter aircraft to help defend against a Russian invasion. Prime Minister Eduard Heger said during a news conference announcing the decision that his government was “on the right side of history.” Earlier, Heger had tweeted that military assistance was key to ensuring Ukraine could defend itself and the rest of Europe against Russia. Poland announced Thursday that it would provide Ukraine with about a dozen MiG-29s, starting with four expected to be delivered in the coming days. Both Poland and Slovakia have indicated previously that they are prepared to grant Ukraine’s request for military aircraft, but only as part of a wider international coalition. Heger said his government’s move was “closely coordinated with the Polish, Ukrainian and other allied parties.”

  1. I'll give her 5 minutes with the Russian air defense. These are 30 year old aircraft, have the avionics been upgraded for contemporary air munitions. The 29 is an air interceptor not ground support. With the modern air defense these few planes stand no chance. That is why Poland and the Slovaks are dumping them. Has any body asked the opinions of the men who are going to fly these target drones? Wake up people… the state dept warmongers have pushed this genocide on the ukranian people. They are murdering the flower of the youth. In the end Ukraine will cease to exist as a nation or people. We did this to these people, and the whole world knows it and is sick of it. Stay away from the Americans they say. A new world alliance is being formed before your very eyes, with the Chinese…BRICS, initiative that countries all over the world are signing on. Look at our backyard…Brazil and several south and central American countries…even Mexico is inviting delegates. These are serious people they know what they are doing. We are led by fools, elected by foolish people. I suggest you stay asleep, for when reality happens, you'll wake to an unrecognizable world. No one will listen to you fools anymore…you have had your run, and will be flushed down the toilet or relegated to the village idiots you always were.

  2. Bravo to the gov't of Poland & Slovakia for sending their remaining MIG 29, tonUkraine but for me the one that will make the difference is the US F-16 Fghting Falcons whch is a 4th generation fighter jet and wch the Ukraine Armies badly needed to defend against the Russian's unjustified aggression. Long Live Poland & Slovakia.

  3. Just one question, how do the ground solders tell the difference between russian and their own jets? From the ground, they look the same, because they are the same. Somtimes they are flying a little too far away to see the markings. They could shoot down one of their own.

  4. Bullshit!
Mig19s are obsolete, and they are OOOOLD Russian planes. The Russians know how to deal with them, goon! … and, btw, they have MIG41s that can blow MIG29s out of the sky. Just Google if you don't know what Mig41s or Su35s etc. can do.

  5. Thank you Poland and Slovakia! To Military Strength, if you are going to do an article on Mig 29's why show video's of the USAF F-15's and crew? I guess to take up space and time in the video?

  6. And what will happen after Russia shoots down all these planes?? Are they gonna keep sending more? All the planes that Ukraine had at the start are no longer there. They've been shot down or destroyed on the ground. Is this to prolong the war?
