HOW WE MET On A Remote Scottish Island – Isle of Harris Special – Outer Hebrides – Ep71

Willie, Sarah and their dogs Jack Spaniels & new puppy, Nori, continue their biggest adventure yet – leaving their suburban life and moving over the sea to a remote cottage on the Isle of Skye, off the west coast of the Scottish Highlands.

In this episode, the Skye Lifers are still in the stunning archipelago of islands called the Outer Hebrides. This time, however, we are chasing the sun to the north and taking a trip through history on the Isle of Lewis. From 5000 year old stone circles, to mysterious Iron Age structures and finally an insight into an almost forgotten rural way of life.

Plus, we take a walk on the final day of our trip and reflect on our personal connection to this island, as we tell the story of how we first met…

Thanks for watching & see you in the next video!

  2. Absolutely loved your Western Isles videos, you should try the Uists and Barra next, very different landscapes but the beaches are amazing – and the spanners would love them 🐾🐾

  3. The Brochs at Glenelg are awesome. Definitely worth a day trip and you can get the little car ferry direct from Skye to Glenelg. wildlife is also insane there. Would suggest a drive back, as the Ratagan Pass is awesome. Worth an explore. We were there last year. I introduced my family to your vlogs every evening.

  4. Thanks for sharing your travels, always makes me want to visit Scotland! Have you checked the dog beds for the missing purse? My puppy was a monster for stealing and hiding important things, even a passport once πŸ˜…

  5. Another brilliant video. The Scottish islands are definitely on the list to visit – it's a bit of a drive from Cornwall, but it's on the list. If you ever make it to St Kilda, that would be fascinating. Friends worked out there and between the non-herding sheep, the St Kilda mouse, and the dead seabird porridge, it sounds so interesting. I look forward to your next adventures. Best wishes from sunny Cornwall

  6. Ritual activity, the archaeologists catchall term for "we don't know"

I have a notebook somewhere with doodles of housebuild ideas and there's quite a few based around brochs, crannogs and similar ancient style dwellings often with a central fireplace. Crazier one being a hobbit hole that merged a fishpond with a skylight.

  7. Your land rover has served you well on these trips and with the dogs. Love the Darth Vader joke, well done Willie. Thank you both for taking us on this journey, very interesting about those stones and black houses. I love your music Willie, I find the song on the end living the 'Skye life' always have me tapping my feet. Have a lovely day.

  8. I just returned from an 18 day road trip of Scotland. It was my first time visiting this beautiful and dramatic country. We were so incredibly lucky to have stunning weather, some days in the 70's❀ I love watching your videos and fantasized about running into you on our day trip to Skye…maybe next time.

  9. I've never been to Scotland, so why is it that I always end up so emotional at the beautiful journeys you make? Love Jack listening to everything that is said to him, I suspect that doggie has more intelligence than me lol.

Long time since I heard of that but My mum would never give a purse without a coin either,it's a superstition thing back home in the North East of the UK too but not so much here on the lovely isles of scilly,I think we may have had a bit more sunshine on the isles than the Hebrides but the hours are still low..Thanks for the Interesting contents guys.
