I have a journal/diary from a settler from there .. Recently received it from my stepdads ,dads, belongings it had been one of their relatives that was a first settlers.. Actually have all their very extensive family history which I glanced at and saw Leadbelly , name too.. I’m pretty sure it is the blues guy.. it has buying selling of slaves , i mean it’s super detailed …who married who , how many kids , land, iou’s, sells of lands, even battle with a tribe and what happened and where..

Hey Mr Ballen, why do I keep hearing the same stories over and over again from you? We enjoy your stories and how you tell them but maybe take a leap to some different genres or newer stories.
From everything I've read, Site X is ~50 miles almost due west of the Roanoke site, not north. On the small peninsula on the east side of Avoca.
So the owner of this channel is making money off of MrBallen's work…..this channel should be suspended by YT for stealing content.

I imagine they could've written CRO for two possible reasons with the same point: to protect whoever returns.
If the tribes found out they were supposed to leave a note for the returning members, then they'd want to lead them astray. My less probable thought on this.
If they did strictly leave the note/sign for White, then it could be to keep them away from where the danger was which was site x, supposedly.

you might have said the answer to why we won’t know the truth. everyone back then was at war and hiding everything and using codes there were pirates too and so why not say north meaning south or west meaning north the opposite of where your going maybe john didn’t have the code since he was away for years. Maybe they got attacked and bailed on what ever ship would carry them and that ship sunk records lost boo.
I've also heard that some Indian tribes have Indian last names that were same names as guys on the boats and their DNA had English genes

Hi John, several years ago there was an archeological dig across the river from the Roanoke Colony. They found evidence of possible survivors or captives from the colony there. They (the first nation peoples') also were mining copper there. It was an interesting documentary. I don't recall what channel it was broadcast on? Thanks for the great stories, I love this one myself! God bless you and your family, brother!

When you see the blood work on the cherokee and other natives from the north carolina area they show lots of english blood from about the beginning of the 17th century that shows that the colonists made it to the mainland and then went native it shows that a few of them met with hardship and died but most survived and just married into the friendly locals becoming hard if not impossible to tell from the natives once the pure colonists finally died off before the Europeans could discover them having gone feral.

Why is your audio quality still so bad? It's not that hard to prepare are room to not sound huge and empty while you're recording audio. Can't listen to this, it's so bad.
