I have a 2018 ram 5.7 with 186k miles and had no issues until 90k drive side Exhaust manifold bolt broke off and started to leak then 120k the other side did the same and now at 186k I have a bad lifter possible my cam the dealer quoted $5,100 😒
I really love these trucks , my parents have one i drove it for two weeks but im just worried about the issues and longevity . With warranty .. not so serious but after that would worry me. DO you reccomend buying ?
I also have a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn with the Off Road Package. I tow a lot and it does well.
I had a bolt break on a connection in the exhaust system a couple of months ago. I now have a cracked right side exhaust manifold. I have about 65k miles. They have told me the manifold is back ordered and they have no idea when it will come in. I do have the lifetime warranty so other than my deductible, it will be covered.
I think everyone I know who owns a 5.7 Hemi has had the exhaust manifolds cracked. It is really hard for me to understand how a manufacturer can simply refuse to correct a known defective part and keep producing a defective part. I am actually quite surprised there hasn't been some sort of law suit.
With that said, I know every brand has it's issues, but I wonder if I will purchase another Ram after this one. The manifold issue (no part available when they continue to build thousands of Hemi equipped trucks), and the refusal to correct a known problem has me mad enough where I may look elsewhere when it is time for a new truck.
Thanks for the channel and the updates on your ownership experience.
I have 7000 miles on my 2022 Ram Laramie and the brakes make a chirping noise on low speed brakes and whenever I go over a bump. Wondering if anyone has that issue too? Some people said they had their brake caliper and pins replaced.
Hmm. I've typically bought GM vehicles but they are putting out complete trash these days. Looking to buy a newer used truck… But I just might not… All sorts of quality issues from every brand. Old and simple has its advantages I guess.
Why can’t you replace your windshield? It’s usually covered by insurance and won’t cost anything. AND they can replace it at home or work. They replaced 2 in my driveway. I’ve replaced 3 windshields (different vehicles) no out of pocket $$$$.
I just had a backup camera issue at 5k on my 2022.. the screen would just come up blue with when put in reverse. My dealer had it fixed in an hour. A little concerning to have any problem at 5k but all said and done really wasn’t a big deal. There’s a lot of complicated parts on these things and they’re made by humans so we can’t expect perfection 😊
Dodge Ram trucks are built by dodge. Great trucks. Ram trucks are made by Chrysler and Fiat a cheaper cut. Dodge doesn’t build trucks anymore . Buy a used dodge truck like I did or buy a Ford F-150 eco boost with twin turbo v-6 which can kick ass on most trucks out ghere
I'm in the market to go from my bulletproof sedans Lexus and Honda thats given me no operating issues what so ever to my first truck as a daily driver with no intentions of off roading or towing really. Would you say these issues are inevitable or just common if you actually use a truck for truck things. I'm a big guy btw and choosing a truck over a suv.
The cab vents in my 2014 ram have leaked since day one. I have 109k miles now and the biggest issue has been exhaust manifolds and replacing coil packs. Just got a p0440 code and replaced the gas cap. Knock on wood…
Most full coverage insurance you can replace your windshield for cheap with act of God coverage just like hitting a deer. Usually deductible is pretty cheap.
What's the MOST RELIABLE vehicle you've ever owned?
Holy shit thats a ton of miles in three years. lol
So no lifter issues or misfire issues ( due to cam or lifter failure) in 150k ?
These RAM trucks are a TOTAL PIECE OF JUNK! I don't understand WHY people buy them.
Truck central have you ever went to climate on the screen and use max AC
Your insurance company will replace your windshield once a year with no deductible
Ford has MANY sunroof issues in f150. That's an option u don't want
Sounds like the truck to have. Especially in the first year of production. And I noticed you didn't comment on recall letters.
I looked at a pre used Dodge Ram the other day with $174,000 mileage
Have you checked the cabin air filter for your ac problem?
How much was the cost for the steering gear/nut?
Thoughts on the 3.6l engine?
You're content was priceless!! I plan on buying a 2023 limited next and you sold me on the extended warranty!
The standard power train warranty 7 yr 100k miles cover the exhaust manifolds.

I don’t know do you have done the AC hack.
Shouldn’t have to like me on a 60k truck in this era but here we are…doubt the AC HACK.

Do you think the air ride is worth the extra dollars compared to the standard RAM suspension?
You would think for all the years they have been making vehicles that they could get it right
Insurance replaced mine free of charge for the window ha
Thanks so much for this vid.
I'm amazed a ram lasted 150000 miles.

Awesome video – I hope Ram is taking notes – you are doing them a huge favor.

I had a RAM…biggest piece of junk I have EVER owned. Transmission..junk. Brakes…junk. Electrical system…junl. Overall…just Dodge junk.

My thing is these things are approaching house prices yet they are taking decades back in terms of longevity.

Usually, at least where I’m at, full coverage insurance will replace one windshield per year for free. I’ve done it a couple times.

Might get one soon
For the prices of all new trucks they should have 200k warranties on all of them. People need to revolt.
lifetime fuel economy on the truck?
2012, 120k, Battery, front wheel bearings, brakes, tires, bad fuse box, bad exhaust bolts, rusting,…and hemi tick…otherwise great truck 35k new lol
I thought it was just my luck hitting rocks on the highway but I’m on my third windshield too. And it’s 2 years old.
