  1. If you factor in the team's they had around them and what they did with it Maye is probably better than both Willimas and Daniels IMO. He is second in big rime throws to Caleb and has less turnover worthy plays than both.

  2. I think the proven method for winning in the NFL is that you build the infrastructure and then get your QB.

Even in the case of Joe Burrow, the Bengals had built a depth of talent by losing so much before they lucked / failed into that pick.

Whereas you can take the "can't miss" prospect like Andrew Luck, he can turn out to be great, and you still fail because now you've got to build a roster around a guy whose success makes it harder to build the roster.

The teams in THIS Super Bowl were good teams BEFORE they went and got their current QB. Tampa Bay was good BEFORE they went and got their SB winning QB.

  3. This QB class is MASSIVELY OVERRATED. Caleb is like Johnny Manziel's brain in Kyler Murray's body, Drake Maye is like Sam Darnold, if Darnold dipped in his draft season instead of peaked, Jayden is just RG3 IF he needed a 5th season on top of an already late breakout, Bo Nix is like the average of Baker Mayfield + Kenny Pickett, Penix is like the average of Tua + Carson Strong and surprisingly JJ McCarthy might have the most potential because parts of his game looks like Aaron Rodgers. My Commanders are picking at 2, Id prefer they swapped with New England if possible to take MHJ, if not even staying put I think MHJ is the play.

  4. As a fellow huge human (about the same size as Steve), can confirm, size-ism definitely a thing. Although I would say, more often than not, it works in our favor – I think we receive more notice, curtesy, and general kindness from random strangers than the average person does. But, there is a small subset who are intimidated.

However, Vrabel is not a huge human, merely an above-average-sized one. You see and interact with people his size every day. I don't really think this would apply to him, and may be the excuse he's giving to himself as to why he doesn't have a job.

  5. caleb cant throw on time often enough when he had possibly the best wr room in college…THAT is his problem…also i dont want my qb crying on mommies lap. if you cant hold your shit together till you step off the field youdo not have the mentality of an nfl qb. He has to go to the right place or he will be a total flop.

  6. if you dont have weapons no qb will help other than hall of fame caliber qbs… look to NE or Panthers or even chicago or Giants
if you dont have a line only the unusually special qb will help. look to Wash, NE, Chicago, Panthers, Giants…or Colts with luck who got butchered…Texans with Carr also comes to mind…
if you dont have an OC who knows how to slowly bring along a qb it doesnt matter who you draft….look to chicago, washington, browns…
and this is just the recent past….go down the list of failed 1st round qbs and look at their weapons, line, and OC and you can usually spot the failure a mile away.

it takes more than picking a qb at 1-5….you have to have the weapons, the line, and the OC so a young qb has a chance to succeed. Anything else is just stupid…

  7. not every OT can change from LT to right…they have to do everything opposite what they have been trained to do and some folks just cant do it at a high level…that is why teams do draft RTs to play on the right. You have a much better idea how they are going to perform.

  8. As someone on the shorter side, I resent the entire idea that we, the short people, are supposed to feel bad for the vertically gifted. No. Just no. Check your privilege, and leave it on the top cupboard where the rest of us can’t reach. 0 sympathy

  9. In Washington's New GM Adam Peters' 1st year in San Fran, they traded back 1 spot instead of taking a UNC QB, then passed on Mahomes & Watson in favor of BPA and traded for a Veteran QB to build around. What would you think if Peters made a LAR/DET-type trade with Arizona, but instead of having a Matt Stafford to send, they swapped from 2 to 4 and Washington eats Kyler's contract, so AZ's staff could reset at the QB position & jump to #1 in cap space while Washington moves back 2 spots to 4 for Kyler and pick 34. Reuniting Kyler & Kliff, with Sam as a backup who fits and knows Kliff's scheme in case of potential. Then Peters could go BPA at 4 adding Marvin Harrison jr to Terry Mclaurin & Jahan Dotson, and add 3 top 40 OL in a deep and talented class. Leaving about $30m in cap & rounds 3-7 for Dan Quinn/Joe Whitt, who should be able to elevate this defense to its previous Top 5-level before we lost Chris Harris/Sweat/Chase. I think Kyler + MHJ+ Tyler Guyton+ Graham Barton+Patrick Paul is > Caleb/Drake/Jayden + Barton+Patrick

  10. None of the QBs are finished products . These guys are looking at it like that. Drake Maye is 6 ft 4 230 and runs a 4.6 forty with a gun for an arm. I had Josh Allen as the top QB in 2018, Herbert as the top QB in 2020 before his senior season and before Burrow blew up. And Stroud last year. It's not hard to see. Only one I have really missed on…Mahones..lol. Maye is a rare talent.

  11. The Maye talk feels like a different version of the C.J. Stroud talk (among many others in years past). That would make sense if a team or teams are hoping for him to fall past the Patriots (including the Cards and Chargers in order to start a bidding war among QB-needy teams). But the Combine and free agency will provide a healthy dose of clarity.

  12. I’m not sold on any of these QBs coming out. Out of all em I like Drake Maye the best , he reminds me of a young Carson Palmer and in 2-3 years I think he will be the best passer from this class. Herbert’s arm with Allen’s mobility.

  13. The Hawks are going to suck this season. Their defense sucks and they need to rebuild 85% of it, half of their offense needs rebuilt needing to address RT n iOL, likely move on from Lockett needing another WR n TE room rebuilt. And they now have the worst HC in the division who has very limited cap room currently in the negative and few picks to work with.

And the division is going to be stacked. Arizona with the most draft capital loaded with picks n around $80M in cap space after they make a few moves to create more will be back in the playoffs next year stacking that roster with talent both in FA n the draft. They also have a 4th place schedule n a weakish NFC this year while SF will be in the playoff mix next season and the Rams it depends on what Stafford does.
I dont see how SEA competes in the NFC West this year specifically in Geno comes back who’s the worst qb in that division by a mile

  14. There's still definitely an argument that left tackle is more valuable, because that is still the QB's blindside. Yes, we see more and more great pass rushers aligned to the offensive right, so the delta in value has certainly narrowed, but right handed QBs are still the heavy majority, and they didn't suddenly become more comfortable dealing with quick wins from behind. Silly to assert otherwise. Beyond that, while it's true that some players, like Sewell, will be great wherever they play, you can't dismiss the idea that there is actually a significant difference in terms of footwork and hand usage between the right and left side, and a guy who has played the majority of his career on one side might very well struggle to adjust to the other. Muscle memory and technique can't just be tossed out. Not everyone can make that adjustment, and it's not just a question of talent. Also, Sewell actually does do traditional "right tackle things" in that he is a power player who excels in the run game. He just happens to be such a unique dude that he can also pass block and move like a classic LT. I agree that times have changed. It's not the 90s or the early oughts, and the difference in what you're looking for at RT and LT is smaller, perhaps even nonexistent. But in general, I would argue that what happened with Tristan Wirfs is the approach most NFL teams would take — if you've got an elite pass protecting RT with elite movement skills, there is always going to be an interest in moving him to LT, particularly if you're moving on from a functional veteran who has manned that spot for multiple years. When Smith left, they moved Wirfs vs. putting Goedeke at LT. I expect the Lions will consider a similar approach when and if they move on from Decker, and there's a decent chance you will see the same from AZ if Humphries is out in 24.

  15. I think that OSU game is really hurting Fashanu — 6 pressures and a grade below 50. Everything you say about his technique and footwork is true. But he got bullied by power, and he has what I think a lot of folks would consider a naturally lean frame for an offensive lineman. Playing with power is about more than adding traditional strength, and he may never have the ability to really anchor against the freakish speed-to-power guys in the NFL, who are operating on a whole different level from JT Tuimoloau. Now, if he CAN fix that, I think you can lock him in as, at minimum, a top-end pass protecting tackle. But struggling to get movement in the run game and struggling to anchor vs. good power players at the college level makes for a legitimate red flag moving into the NFL, which remains a power-based league.

  16. Maye is gonna be the best qb in the class seems like nobody learned anything from Bryce struggling. Caleb also isn't a good enough athlete to get away with the things he did at USC and he's short so accessing the middle of field is going to be a problem. Nate Tice last year had Stroud 1 Richardson 2 Bryce 3 and he has Maye at 1 this year
