2023 Tampa SX Track Preview with Two-Time 250SX Champion Zach Osborne

We’ve made it all the way to the actual east coast for the fifth round of the 2023 Monster Energy AMA Supercross as we head into Tampa this weekend. Rain is in the forecast and Donnie Southers called up Zach Osborne to talk about this Tampa layout and what we can expect from the raining, including if the rain changes things up. Kudos to Zacho for still jumping on the phone to chat with us after he unfortunately broke his elbow in pre-season prep for GNCC just yesterday

  1. Zach is a "MotorCross" champ!
Sand is not "hard on the bikes" with basic and normal maintenance. Take it from somebody who rides. It is called a dirt bike.
I think Racer-X are aliens. Have no idea where they flew in from.

  2. You should have congratulated ZACHO for his 2nd place last weekend at the KENDA ENDURO SPRINT NATIONAL he beat the defending #1 I think. C’mon DONNIE this was his debut for pro-am and you dropped the ball… He’s so humble he didn’t bring it up but probably kinda bummed you weren’t fallowing his racing close enough to notice

  3. I think this sort of breakdown and content is what we need on the broadcasts. We are getting technical information, not just jump types and locations, out of zach while also being entertained. Real contecnt, not just face value entertainment. Something that we lack on the broadcasts.

  4. I don't think they really "fill" the stadium seats that much in Tampa and, if you know Monster Jam, you know they can go up and down one of the short stands

WHY DO THEY NEVER TRY THAT ANYMORE!?

  5. Random sand sections don’t belong on modern SX tracks.
All it does is interrupt the overall flow of the track itself.

The way a modern SX track is ridden — is way too advanced, to have a random faux element.

It’s like modern BMX racing. The racing itself is far too advanced for the track to have a random set of logs, or a water pit, or sand, etc. — like you would see on BMX tracks back in the day.

The standard obstacles on a SX track are already advanced enough to make the track difficult.

Even the top racers can’t hit a rhythm section smoothly for 20 consecutive laps — which proves the track is already technical enough.

Adding sand isn’t like the whoops. It’s not separating “the men from the boys”.
It’s not making the track “tougher”.
Again, all it does is unnecessarily interrupt the flow of the track itself — and, creates lappers, sooner.
