Zeppelin Fan REACTS to Greta Van Fleet Starcatcher Part 11 of 12

We have FINALLY completed the entire Starcatcher album. This is the first half review after hearing all of the songs and allowing them to grow on me. Now that I have made the conscious decision to STOP focusing on the sonic aspect I have grown to enjoy the album.

  1. On the LP the sound is a lot better. I think listening to it on line muffles the sound. The reverb on the LP is lower. Yes he plays a Fender Tele with the B bender. On " The Archer" Jake plays a Black Gibson BB King guitar with a Bigsby. Jake said that he wanted to try other classic guitars to get certain tones he was looking for.

  2. I love the theming in every album they've done
Anthem of The Peaceful Army was themed as a march or a coming together
The Battle At Gardens Gate was themed as a war, battle, or almost apocalypse
Starcatcher is themed as a very dreamy, almost like you know its wrong but you cant help it, hence songs like "Meeting The Master"

  4. I agree, the album is starting to grow on me. Not impressed with Frozen Light yet, maybe someday…
BTW, your 8 string MIDI video from 13 years ago just popped into my YouTube feed, your little riff at 1:59 sounds a lot like the beginning of Greta Van Fleet's 'Waited all Your Life.' Pretty cool stuff 👍

  5. After seeing them last night here in Los Angeles let me tell you…GVF are the real deal. One of the best bands ive seen live. Bold statement i know. I went from digging this album to absolutely loving it. This band has grown. Musicianship has always been there…but now they put on one hell of a show. From ambience, to pyro technics, to stage presence. They genuinely fucking rock. And Shotgunn, youll feel the same after its all said and done bud. Would love a video on your concert experience and how you feel afterward. Rock on 🤘

  6. I think ive learned a few things from this album. You see, even with shitty production (my opinion), This mfkr can play guitar like none other, bass and keys? Phenominal. Drums? always on point… Josh? Melody master. He always finds a way to make the coolest and thought out lyrics sound so good… and get stuck in my head. And he decides to rip a harmonica solo? HAHA

  7. I love the album, and I enjoy listening to the vinyl, but Im struck again that these songs sound twice as good live. I can hear more of the details when the play them live…maybe it’s because they have to configure them differently than in the studio, I don’t know. As far as Sacred the Thread, I heard Josh say that the first time he put on a jumpsuit, it helped him feel secure but free. I also feel like it refers to the connection he gets with the fans with the give and take of energy and excitement that keeps him going through the show.

  8. To me, Sacred the Thread has a simple meaning with ambiguous lyrics to be interpreted differently. On the surface, its just about them being badasses onstage when they perform in their outfits and how they connect to the audience in this way. "Look good, feel good" if you will. On a deeper level I think it may have something to do with a coming-of-age or reaching milestones in life–about how far you can go and experience in this world, loving yourself, having people along the way that you love and loves you, etc. Just my take
