Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is taking place after Breath of the Wild. But are we talking about a Timeskip of months or years? We go into it in this video!

  1. Where has everyone been getting these "gameplay" clips of short-haired Zelda and sky island / ancient / damaged / whatever we call Link walking around? Are those fan models or did someone manage to pull them from the TOTK somehow?

  2. Maybe the game starts with some Kakariko villagers talking about Link and Zelda's engagement as the game shot zooms to Link and Zelda's location. Makes Zelda falling even more impacful

  3. I think you’re right about the time skip, but link and zelda do not look 5 years older. i know it would be difficult to show that with their art style, and im not saying you’re wrong outright but i think i know how theyll do it

i think the beginning of the game is like 1-2 years time skip. it explains why link and zelda look nearly identical. and we see link in some sort of resurrection type room in one of the trailers, i believe it was the one we got a while back. hes wearing different boxer shorts and green energy gathers around his hand.

so im thinking, we’ll get like a year time skip. and then we’ll get another larger time skip. like 4-5 years. lore wise, this would be really fucked up cuz thatd mean link and zelda will miss out on even more years of life due to ganondorf

however, i think 2 years is more than enough for the story. but i doubt nintendo will make link and zelda significantly older. they are fairly technologically advanced so fixing up hyrule a little wouldnt be that unrealistic. also ganondorf coming alive can cause some immediate damage. maybe some other lore reasons like my more stuff coming out of the ground like sheikah stuff.

if link and zelda do somehow miss out on multiple years of life, it would be really tragic since like i said thisll be the 2nd time he does this. but maybe it only happens to link and zelda ages while he doesn’t.

  4. 2:17 – Most Zelda games include an aspect of time travel; giving us a Light World and a Dark World.

I would not be surprised if we get to time travel in TotK. I'm hoping travelling through time to the various Zelda games we've played, in all the timelines – as Link works to close up lose ends and link (!) everything together.

3:30 – that is an excellent observation! Adding a building simulator-style aspect to Hyrule as we did for Tarrey Town, would add more flavor to the game.

    And certainly add more re-playability.

  5. I mean just like in real life if 10 years has past it is reasonable to imagine some people not physically aging much till they hit their 40's or 50's depending on genetics/ But i think the blood of the goddess will make Zelda stay young for far longer than normal Hylians and with Link well one would just assume good genetics to begin with as he was chosen by the sword after all so at least those two would age slow

  6. Meh…the population in Hyrule, if you take it very literally, is so low that I would not be surprised if they haven't had time to do too much reconstruction. Did you see the living space of some of those burnt-out houses in BotW? You can't even squeeze a bed in that space, much less really live there. I've said it before and I will say it again: as lush and realistic as it seems, the world of BotW is still just a representation of the real thing, otherwise Hylians will be all but extinct or so interbred (hey, better than inbred) with neighboring races in Hyrule, there will be few of them left. Gerudo women snapping up all the men will leave the women scrambling for mates among the fish or bird folk. XD And their own numbers, literally taken, are also very low to be realistic. So Hyrule has to be more than what you literally encounter in the map.

  7. That's an amazing theory! However, I doubt that 6 full years really went on between the two games' stories. Why? Because both in the trailers and the artworks made public yet, Link and Zelda look exactly the same as in BOTW. If 6 years had really gone by, they would look a bit older, a bit more adultish, like Twilight Princess's Link and Zelda for instance.

  8. hey i just came to think of something… where is all the champions?? i would think they would defend their respected areas as well as but… aint it a bit strange that we havent seen/heard anything of them? makes me think that maybe history repeat itself for them

  10. One thing that I like about the Zelda franchise since playing Breath of the Wild, are its mysteries. When we all played BOTW for the first time, those 3 dragons definitely caught my eye (and the theme music for when they appear gave it much more air to its mysteriousness) and I know I can't be the only one who said to myself " I know I'm gonna end up fighting them things either sooner or later", but never ended up doing so which left even more curiosity as to who those dragons were. (Until I found the Zelda Channel communities)

It seems like with Tears of the Kingdom, the mysteries will be more prominent during the beginning and will also seem like they will slowly reveal themselves as we progress through the game, whether it's through cut scene dialogues or that combined with game-play. I'm all for both baby!

I'm from the original Legend of Zelda era and one thing I hope to see with TOTK is a difficulty level that matches the difficulty level as The Legend of Zelda II for the NES. That game gave a challenge.

Long live the Wizrobes too…. I feel like Breath of the Wild didn't do justice with their version of Wizrobes from the character design to the animations and all, but they were a bit better than what was showcased in previous games. I would love to see a story focused on them since they deal with the dark magic of the Zelda series as they were one of the badass few underrated enemies of Zelda games up til, but not after NES 2 version of LOZ.

Haven't played any of the portable Zelda games btw, but am considering to do so, especially after I discovered A Link Between Worlds

  11. This is just a hunch I’ve had, so I could be COMPLETELY wrong, but with the vibes that I’ve been getting from TOTK so far… I personally don’t think Hyrule Castle, nor Castle Town, are going to be rebuilt. Central Hyrule will remain abandoned, deemed either too dangerous or damaged beyond salvaging. Instead, a smaller government will establish in the East in or near Hateno village. Possibly a more democratic government, kinda like Majora’s Mask, and Zelda won’t really be “The Princess” anymore. At least not in the traditional sense. That’s a life of bad memories that she wanted to leave behind, which may be why she cut her hair. Free from the responsibility of being this regal symbol of authority over a massive kingdom, her role as more of a “Mayor” or “President”, so to speak, has given her an opportunity to have a much more active role as a leader, which is what she always wanted… But I don’t know, that’s just my thoughts. Keep up the good videos 🙂

  12. There's 1 Place That Needs MAJOR Restoration And Thats The Old Castle Town And The Temple Of Time From Ocarina Of Time And What Would Be AMAZING To See Is The Pedestal Of Time Still Intact With All The Past Game Heroes

  13. Wouldn't it be cool if Zelda and Link had a child during the time lapse? Maybe that could explain the haircut? Maybe Piya takes the child into hiding while the game plays through… ow the possibilities ✨️

  14. Conrad, it's been about 6/7 months since I unsubscribed from your channel. Yet, because of the YT algorithms and our shared love for the Zelda series, I'm being presented with another one of your videos. Not the presentation, nor your opinions, but your voice and especially your over the top/weird/annoying intonation is what enrages me. You are all over the place. Why not put a beat to it and sing your entire script?!?!? Why…seriously why!… is your intonation so weird! You know any people who speak in a very monotonous way? Well, you're the exact oposit. Please dude, find a middle ground!

  15. Definitely think there will be a time skip plus thanks for the concept art we know some of the new things that probably would take a lot of time to do as well as it makes sense link and Zelda be dating by this time they have built it up since breath of the wild as well spirit tracks, kind of built up a relationship between link and Zelda as well as this time, skip would make sense for why there’s not much Shika technology probably Cuz. They tore it down to use it for other things they made new towers as well as more things they upgraded Zelda she could slate the woman in the trailer with the dress I believe is Zelda I think she will have her own quest, or she’ll be trapped deep in the underground and eventually her and link would finally meet up near the end of the game or they will have to work together to kill Gannon Dorf for good

  16. if 6 years have passed in game that would make Link and Zelda 23-ish physically since they were 17-ish in BOTW. which you would notice. at most maybe half that would have passed is my guess.

  17. When do you think the time jump happens? Before Ganondorf wakes up, or after?

Seeing the unusual towers and enemy mining operations makes me think some time has passed after Ganondorf reawakens.

Do you think there are 2 time skips? One between BOTW and TOTK, then another after Ganondorf wakes up?

  18. I bet few things. 1 i think Riju has made it, so voes can go to goruto town, and abaut it. If link destroys canondorf forever, then we will get a post gredit scene of a goruto voe being born.

Second, i think yiga clan has gotten destroyed or more aggressive.

Third, Zelda and link share their houses in hateno, and have made some changes.

Fourth, there are new towns. Duh

  19. There is definitely a large time skip.

    Spoilers below

The art book shows large Hyrulian settlements and forts that have markets, towns, etc. Also Purah(?) Is an adult now and Paya is shown to be older in the art book.
