Welcome to the pain train.

No I’m not kidding this boss killed me 8 separate times.
On paper this boss is quite simple with only a handful of attacks, a punch with his right arm, a three punch combo, a bite, a tail swipe, and a ground slam that you want to perfect guard.
But this boss hits really hard and you don’t have the overpowered flash step from Ys 8 (or even the slightly nerfed one in 9) and flash guard is still great for dealing massive damage but it takes a bit more commitment now you can’t just spam it for multiple second of invulnerability. On top of that while you can parry this boss he’s not gonna keel over just because you blocked an attack it’s much more like Elden ring where multiple parries are needed. This boss is going to make sure you learn the combat system or you’re not getting past him especially since your only healing is a single potion you were given and the passive ability to drain enemies HP with Adol.
It’s hard but from a quality standpoint this fight is amazing and I’m happy to say that so far it runs perfectly even on switch which makes me hopeful that the PS5 and PC ports will be even better. I have faith in Falcom since their products are decent at worst.
Anyways as far as story stuff goes there was a monster outbreak on the road outside of town and there were quite a few people outside that are in danger. Most notably Rosalind, pink haired girl that works at the inn, is found in the depths of a lighthouse cave guarding a young girl names Sasha (or Sashu) and you are helping Glenn and his mercenary band rescue the people.
