everyone is talking about how this is very similar to nasubi and a life of prizes, but I'm pretty sure there is an asian movie/series about a guy stuck in a white room full of switches on the walls that release incomplete things when flipped, such as a full collection of comic books but a chapter is missing, sushi without soy sauce and stuff
EDIT- There is, the movie is called Symbol, it's from 2009 and is much weirder than I remembered

This kind of reminds me of that Japanese reality show where they had a Japanese comedian locked in a room with nothing but mail-in sweepstake magazines, a pen and a table. He had to win prizes to survive. They called him Nasubi (Japanese for eggplant) because of the shape of his head.
