Emmett Walsh (Buck Taylor) died on the trail during the cattle drive leading up to the annual Yellowstone Dutton Ranch branding, in a death that John Dutton deemed the perfect ending for an old cowboy. “You sure earned it, old friend,” he tells Walsh softly as he waits for his body to be transported.

  1. After watching every episode of Yellowstone, and every episode of 1883, I finally realized during Episode 6 that Beth is Elsa reincarnated. Awesome similarities between the two… 🤔

  2. He had two weeks of meetings all in one day. That was in E5. Clare told him he could do it and he gave her the go ahead. Not every moment in John's life is on screen. As for the plot hole, Ella says that Emmit wouldn't want his death to put a damper on the party since he died a cowboy. Its the cowboy way. That she'll mourn him later. That's pretty cowboy itself. And as for the President, it was pretty clear to me that Angela represented herself as the the only authority necessary. Does it fit perfectly to the process? No. But it fits the story line. (Suspension of Disbelief?) If that's the worst thing Taylor Sheridan does in his story line, I can live with it. It doesn't co-opt the storyline. It clearly just advances the plot.

I keep saying everywhere, that one of TS's traits is to cut his scenes up in his trailers and previews and joining them together to present an entiely different and false impression. What makes me laugh is when people don't realize it and then get mad when they discover they were wrong by extrapolating. PEOPLE! DO NOT TRY TO FIGURE OUT ANYTHING BASED ON A TRAILER.

  3. As soon as the old guy was featured briefly at the beginning of the branding effort and the trailer for Ep 6 showed a helicopter it was very obvious the old guy was going to die. It's a textbook writing strategy. No suprise to anyone who was even remotely paying attention.

  4. Her staying to help is after her husband has passed is just how we ranchers work. Not something that is easy to explain if you have never been around that culture. Keeping busy, work etc is just how many of the familes deal with loss .

  5. Meeting with school kids is not doing your job either as Governor. Secret Service may not go around shooting innocent dogs but the FBI makes a habit of it on all their raids of innocent people, FYI I worked in LE, it is an issue.

  6. Buck Taylor was famous in Texas. He was The “Cowboy” of the state of Texas. He did a cameo in season 5 when they sent Jimmy to 4-6 Ranch he had a Cameo appearance. He gave Jimmy advice. Buck Taylor Passed away this year…and it was a beautiful way to honor him in this episode. Everyone in Texas cried. Shame on you for not doing a bit more research before your podcast. Since Taylor Sheridan bought the 4-6 Ranch and is filming a spin off from Yellowstone, it was a very important way to show respect and memorialize at true Texas legend.

  7. First thing, a picket line is for tying up the horses.. second their would be an advance team that would proceed before the President to arrange his visit. The whole arrival of the President was totally incorrect.

  8. And a nanosecond after seeing the widow dishing out food to the attendees, Dutton says she didn't want the event to be overshadowed by her husband's death (and she's as much a cowboy as he was).
