Y7S3 Deceit: Just What the Hell is Going On!?

This season of For Honor has been very fascinating. There’s a lot to say good about it…but what on earth is going on? I’ve had lots of people asking me if I can explain what’s up with the lore and what they can expect, so today we’re gonna break down what we know, what is on the way, and…the questionable direction that this implies. Please be aware, I’m not being negative and I’m not at all saying I don’t like this season or what’s ahead…but…I have concerns. I felt the need to voice them.

  1. Regarding the whole "Horkos planned it" thing, I don't think they had much involvement besides providing the funds. The daily order that mentioned Horkos just said that they spread wealth among their allies to strengthen their position, nothing to indicate that they planned it. I think part of the deceit thing is that Astrea will be just as blindsided by the actions of the Wu Lin as anyone else. Hell, they might set up a temporary truce with Chimera to put a stop to the whole mess.
As for the Journey to the West iconography, the "Live Entertainment" daily order says that festival guests are expected to provide entertainment to the visiting ancestors, and makes specific mention of theater. Could be that all of the Journey to the West stuff is because this whole trap is set in the festival.
But, who knows. maybe I'm being overly optimistic, maybe they have something planned that'll blow me out of the water, we'll just have to see.

  2. Personaly I think stearing it into a dying light crossover is the wrong move here. Look this could be done extreemly wel if you do it just right with the lore, but let's face it though the lore writers of for honor aren't the greatest and they are going to f*ck this up. My advice would be this to them, be very carefull how approche this. If horkos would loss a significant amount of power turning them in bassicly a small organisation which is just out to terriorise heatmore the zombie appocolypse could work. If they play it that every faction goes after there own survival this could work. If they indeed build uppon this event making next year the year of the dead this could work. Most importantly if they just take some zombies, the concept of the plague and apply it to heatmore instead of fully crossing over this could work. It would create a new world were all factions will start fighting eachother over resources again to survive the plagues. It allows for horkos to have more of a background roll where they just start the conflicts and watch the world burn same as appolyn did in the campagne. It could reground the narratieve back to how it was in the beginning and effect the world in a way we haven't seen before. Here is the other side of the coin. If they mess it up they end up ruining the second part of the greatest season concept they had in years. This is either going to freaking perfect and the thing that for honor needed or it's going to be one giant dumpster fire there truely will be no inbetween. The stacks are going to be increadably high ubisoft I hope you relise that?

  3. I'm going to say no, the events of this season will not impact future seasons, very little of the other seasons have, despite their events being a fairly big deal; the Heretics and Inquisition appeared and disappeared in the span of three months, the Aztecs retaliated Horkos and are now roaming the countryside, so the same will likely be with this season. We could have demons of hell or aliens from space appearing in a season now and in the seasons after that everything is back to square one, because the writers suffer from dementia and they are hoping the players are to infantile to notice.

The lore is already at the bottom I'd say, especially since during Y7S1 Heresy one of the effects was a literal tombstone with "Lore Consistency" written on it.

Heresy is probably the best example of how bad the writing team actually is, once one actually tries to think on who the Heretics are, what they supposedly believe and what the relics actually do and have done… suddenly forming a faith around all of them makes no sense.
So yeah, the events of this season will be the same as previous seasons; completely contained within itself and the next season will be a blank slate with passing mentions.

  4. Me and my friend have our own headcanon…

For this season for example, my JJ Shang Yu(brother of Guan Yu), came to heathmoor because he heard about Wu Lin allies that are in need of assistance, he told them they should retreat to the Dragon's wrath(the flagship of my JJ) to plan the attacks…. short said my JJ planned the festival to get MANY strong warriors at one place… obviously not to kill them but to get them away from their factions, so the soldiers of my JJ and the heathmoor Wu Lin group up together to weaken the factions one by one… at first they attack valkenheim, followed by all Horkos outposts, followed by the samurai, than they attack feronia where the main chimera headquarters are and then they strike in ashfeld….

Me and my friend designed the personality and the mindset of my JJ a tiny bit after Grand Admiral Thrawn of Timothy Zahns Thrawn Trilogy.

Sorry for my weird af english

  5. Though horkos is involved a tad bit, I’m genuinely surprised the wu Lin actually took initiative and flat out attempted to trick all of the factions into killing themselves.

Money bribe from horkos or not it still has a faction other then horkos/knights being a genuine villain, even if horkos kinda pulled some strings (even though it said they funded all factions for some reason)

  6. The main intended theme of DL2 were the modern dark ages, and has done that until now with a strictly meele combat system with bows and semi-auto crossbows being the closest we have had until now to ranged weapons, so I don't worry about they adding tech like stuff in for honor. Yes, its confirmed that they will add guns at some point, but Im really hopeful about this crossover because both games are one of my favourite ones. This I think is also tied to DL2 adding the polearm weapon type to the meele weapon rooster.
