What will a new Stargate TV series need in order to bring back the existing fan base? We want to hear your views!

While we wait for news from Amazon MGM Studios, let’s talk about how a new series announcement could (and should?) be received by Stargate’s fan base. How open are we to a different kind of Stargate show, from a new group of storytellers?

  1. I would like to see a series about how the Ancients got to Earth, set up the Stargate network, and how the 4 races got together. We could finally see the Furlings. As long as the show is not woke.

  2. I've zero interest in any reboot that recasts beloved characters with new actors. The only way I'd watch is if canon was honoured. It'd also lovely to have previous cast be involved in cameo form to flesh out any new story. If they take it grimdark and distopian though (such as the trend of scifi fantasy in recent years) I'd nope right out. Life is hard enough and the joy of SG1and SGA for me was the heart and relative cosiness of the formula.

  3. I would love to see a good new Stargate show. But since the rightholder is currently Amazon, I would rather wait until a show can be made by competent people with the respect it deserves. If it is now made by Amazon, we all know that it will have incompetent writers, who have no idea how to tell a good story. Instead, all they will care about is to highlight that for the new show they have invented the first female leading character in the Stargate universe (completely ignoring Samantha Carter) and that they are proudly tearing down the evil patriarchy (by having every single male character acting like a fool) and endlessly pat themselves on the back for how progressive they are. Also, they will retcon every single good thing about the Stargate lore into something brave and stunning and stupid. Nobody wants to see something like that, and if you think you do, give Rings of Power or the Witcher series a watch and then think about my words.

  4. The answer is yes. I'd prefer that it ties into a previous show, or brings them ALL together, but I'd watch it regardless and buy it on disc ASAP. There's lots of potential, it doesn't even have to center around Earth and I'm sure I'd like it. Guess I would be bothered if it blatantly contradicted things we already know about the Stargate universe (or events that have already happened) but if it meant more content… I'd get over it.

  5. Look forward to it no need to make another animated version of it makes some in between storylines and show new characters in the animated show real life actors. Who’ve actually been on the show who were in the background in the future when a technology is already so advanced we were having flying cars and humans and aliens were coexisting living together, make it more modern and make it actual

  7. If they could make a new SG without jamming it full of every leftist talking point and it becoming just a vehicle for the MESSAGE, then I could watch it. I doubt it could get made.

  8. As long as you have a show that captures the essence of the original show and a showrunner with a solid vision of that essence and where he wants to take the show I don't think it matters. It would be nice to see cameos by original actors like Robert Picardo, but it has to make sense and not be nostalgia.
