Worst Mechanical Failures Caught On Camera | Planes Gone Viral

What happens when an aircraft fails? An aviation nightmare.

Modern aircraft are incredibly sophisticated machines, but even though every component is tested and retested, it’s impossible to totally eliminate mechanical failure. Today’s biggest planes have 4 million parts, fly 6000 miles a week, 48 weeks a year.

In this episode, compelling phone footage reveals the results of high-altitude mechanical failure and examines how the industry is tackling the problem.

  1. These programs are extremely dangerous. Their main message is to frighten people based on false "facts", and even if they will have a small incident onboard they will start to cry and panic which makes the situation even worse.
    Some facts:
    – none of the planes can crash due to one small error. it is always several components going wrong in the same time.
    – that plane with 3 engines were completely safe. those planes can fly even with 2 engines.
    – Blind luck? Really? That is what you call science??? Luck has nothing to do with that. Its engineering, professionalism and CRM.

If you want to learn a bit more about aviation incidents I strongly recommend everyone this channel:

It is fact based, not lurid like this bullshit.
The creators obviously know nothing about aviation, and must stop creating such "shows".

  2. You can’t fault everyone who may grab a purse or something under their seat. People can have their medications in there that are super hard/expensive/ sometimes impossible to replace. Grabbing a suitcase from overhead is inappropriate but a purse or small bag within reach IF it contains something urgent shouldn’t be shamed

  3. Your information presentation system that you have going in your episodes sucks. Just like Discovery channel, you talk about 3 minutes worth of content for 20 minutes because you talk around in circles. Boooooooo.

  4. An A380 is not critically endangered from losing a single engine. Those planes can divert and land on a single engine if I’m not mistaken. That story was needlessly over dramatic.

On the Thomas Cook aircraft the spoilers didn’t do too much to negate speed. Spoilers are designed to “spoil” the lift production of the wings. They do cause aerodynamic drag, but they aren’t the primary decelerating mechanism. The wheels all have very robust breaks that are primary for stopping, and reverse thrust is the secondary. I saw the thrust reversers deploy on that aircraft.

The clips are riddled with additional technical errors, some that I caught, and some I didn’t, but were caught by others. In all, this video seems more geared toward freaking people out than telling the real stories. Not a fan of this delivery of information.

  5. Firstly – 6000 miles a day not 6000 miles a week
Secondly – NOTHING in this world is perfect – not one creature
    can prevent their own death.
It is not a matter of IF – It is a matter of When.
Fate is what it is – and we have to accept it whether it is good or bad.

More people die in bed than anywhere else – yet we are not afraid of
    going to bed.
Sleep is a dress rehearsal for death – it teaches us not to worry about it.
Does anyone worry about anything while asleep ?
The conscious state is switched OFF – One does not think about awakening.-

    ; Thursday, November 04, 2010 when 440 passengers boarded
; QANTAS Flight 32 bound for Sydney –
; they had every reason to feel confident. They were flying on what was
; then the world's newest – most sophisticated civilian aircraft –
; powered by prestigious ROLLS ROYCE engines. But six minutes into the
; flight all that would change – when an explosion sent pieces of searing
; hot metal shooting out of the engine faster than the speed of sound.

: In 2011 – Four Corners told the compelling story of the frightening
    hours that followed.
From the passengers who looked on in horror as a human-sized hole
appeared in one wing – to the horrified QANTAS staff who tried to
verify reports of deaths on the ground as pieces of engine rained

forensic account of a truly terrifying mid-air incident.

  7. Anyone with a working brain should know that you should never fly on an American built aircraft. Boeing place profit above safety. Ask any Boeing worker, and they will tell you how bad the workmanship is. Cutting corners is a way of life at Boeing. Prat and Whitney and Rolls-Royce make darn good engines. I suspect that these were GEC engines. You don't see many Airbus planes crash out of the sky or blow up on the ground.
