World’s First Hydrogen-Powered Train Fleet Launched In Germany

Germany has inaugurated the world’s first hydrogen-powered fleet of passenger trains. A fleet of 14 trains, called Coradia iLint, is provided by French industrial giant Alstom to the German state of Lower Saxony.

The trains have a range of 1,000 kilometers meaning they can run for an entire day on a single tank of hydrogen.

Regional rail operator LNVG said the fleet, which cost 93 million euros, would prevent 4,400 tonnes of CO2 from being released into the atmosphere each year.

  1. thats such a stupid idea
their fundamental efficiency is almost 2x worse than simple electricity to motor…

want to be carbon free build up solar power and use electricity directly from batteries
    hydrogen is stupid
