Wolf Bites! Episode 1: Deconditioning, Radicalization, & Witchcraft

Welcome to the first episode of Wolf Bites, a long format podcast style series where we sink our teeth into the Unknown by discussing all things magickal, philosophical, spiritual, and paranormal. In this episode, we have a long and chaotic conversation on radicalization in terms of deconditioning your mind for witchcraft and more!

  1. Okay, firstly absolutely enjoyed this video, and think the format is an innovative and refreshing change to the aesthetic nature of YT witchcraft (Hell, look at my handle). Secondly, the conversation on radicalization, and your exploration of the intersection between politics and witchcraft more generally, feels so necessary in these spaces. It feels like a lot of witches are willing to make it clear that they follow their own path against this larger system of oppression we all face, but it seems very few have the guts to explore that further through a political lens. Being a gay politically active latino witch, I am fully aware that the roots of my practice, and witchcraft more generally, is that of being a force of resistance and survival against oppressors; likewise, I am critical of the greater YT witchcraft sphere which seems to have moved away from that into a materialist, and for lack of a better term, conformist attitude towards the overall state of the world, and though obviously the onus is not on any one particular person to discuss how witchcraft can be, and has been, used against systemic oppression, there is an overall lack of that discourse in these circles. (Ivy doing the group spell for the Palestinians is another example of a discussion that I think was necessary and opened the doors to more witches being more politically and philosophically open to discussion. I've been out actively protesting with the people and the students in my area, so perhaps I'm just biased as a result of my own radicalization, but seriously this evolution in witchcraft content on YT feels necessary.)

Long comment over, glad to see you back in my feed, this new series is again very refreshing, and feels like a necessary entry into the social sphere of YT witches and magick. I really look forward to more of these deeper discussions in hopes other creators and influencers will be reminded that their practice, at its very core, is a method of surviving against oppression. As you said, "We need to be radical. We need to engage with life and others honestly, and fully…."

  2. I love the idea for this series. This was really thought provoking and interesting to listen to. I do agree very much with these sentiments. It's impossible to be tapped into the spiritual and connecting with the arcane, esoteric and mystical if we are unable to look at ourselves and our own shadows and projections, and crucially if we are unable to witness and use our privilege and voices to speak out against horrors that are occurring in real life, and right now. Thank you for sharing Eddie. πŸ™
