  1. One of my big problems is I’m not in the least bit sentimental – I’ve met loads of sentimental people in my life, many of which are still in the same position today as the were in 20 years ago. Constantly dreaming of how great the past was, is a road to nowhere. In my opinion (and most will disagree) we should build a completely new stadium – one that’s befitting of the club we are. Make it sympathetic to the history of the club, and keep the name.

I’m 60 now, almost 61 – had many great memories at Old Trafford going all the way back to watching my first game as a 10 year old, but we need to move on. Whether us old timers like it or not, the game has changed, but we are not moving with that change – as I said, sentimentality is the road to nowhere, we’ve been on that road for the past 10 years.

  2. No need for a massive revamp or modernisation. It would definitely look nice but this is the theatre of dreams we’re talking about, no new stadium will ever capture the same magic or respect from its fans. The fact that you can have a stadium in which the card machines work about as much as your local councillor, the toilets are a bit shit and the roof leaks like a pornstar and still have people turning up saying that the stadium is fucking brilliant shows that you can never get away with a full demolition and restart even on the same site. You don’t need an on-site brewery most united fans are happy with a carling, you don’t need a massive corporate area filled with lavish suites and restaurants the majority of people are gonna go down the road and have pasty or kebab and are only gonna be there 2-2.5 hours anyway. Just fix the small things, the fans love the stadium to death
