Prob ya
The thing that makes season 8's ending bad is how rushed it was, not the actuall ending itself.
We'll never know because GRRM will never finish the books LMFAO🤣
Not mad .only her MO is crazy
I dont think she'll go outright mad queen. GRRM likes to do his gray character thing so her actions will probably be morally ambiguous.
Danyy going mad wasn't the problem it was how it happened
Most of your research is kinda outdated. George said himself in summer 2022 of how the more he writes the more he writes the more his story distances itself from the tv shows ending.
“God give me HIV” is crazy😭😭
if Bran becoming king is whats going to happen in the books then what was the fucking point George?
Cersei is a mad enough queen as it is, without Dany snapping too.
"God give me peanuts"
The subtitles : "God give me penis"😅
They made a lot of things up at the end GRRM has basically confirmed that the ending of the books will be quite different from the show
Yeah I don't think the books will end like the show, as I think the long night will be the final conflict rather than the war for the iron throne
tbh if i was george i too wd take 15 years to write twow so it doesn't end like the shit show seasons 5 to 8 were. i know the books were always different and superior but damn did d&d fucked up. george might have gave the "ending" to them, but being a gardener writer that already changed a lot from what he planed in earlier books, and having what happened in mind, he must be dancing with dragons to amend things (even tho he has no fault)
Guys stop wasting your time speculating he is gonna die before he finishes this goddam story
Why can't George just subvert his usual subversion. Like can we have a happy ending with Jon and Daenerys. Fuck me George. Things are getting kinda predictable/
We already have a mad queen. She’s called Cersei Lannister.
So I don’t think Daenerys will “go mad”. I think she will become more of a ruthless pragmatist like Aegon the Conqueror.
Im really annoyed at how people white wash merri because first off Dany herself is also a rape victim and second off she killed meeri for killing her son who was innocent it has nothing to do wity drogo.
Also no dany being blamed for something that wasn't actually her fault is a shitty plot twist gourge doesn't punish people for things that aren't there fault everyone suffers the consequences of there own actions.
This is what I think. I think we are meant to entertain the idea of Dany going mad or touching a darker side especially after dance. However, what much of the fan base seems to forget is that Danys story is not one of playing the game of thrones, her and Jon are meant to be two parts of the azor ahai prophecy so their story climaxes during the second fight for the dawn. You mentioned George doesn’t go for low hanging fruit which is completely true, but mad queen/butcher queen Dany IS low hanging fruit. I mean, it’s a trope completely done over rooted in quite a good amount of misogyny, something I believe George is aware of. In winds I think Dany will take a more conquer esque approach by burning volantis, possibly reflecting the kings landing scene, and possibly killing young griff. If we consider all of this, isn’t the most likely outcome Dany dying at the hands of the others or maybe even being corrupted by them?
"Was Dany just on her period?"😂
In the show she literaly threathen to burn all of Quarth so she was always meant to go mad
For the ones who dosen't belive that she will go mad in the books ,please explain how do you think her stoty will end if we would get A Dream of Spring today
From the moment she attained any meaningful power, Danny was a violent warlord tyrant. The thing is, she is shielded from the negative perception of that by her 'just cause'. She's sweeping across slavers, massacuring those who stand against her, but we don't care because she's freeing the slaves, which perfectly aligns with our modern sensibilities.
And she IS challenged on this. When she takes rule of Mareen we get to see her struggle with adapting her previous 'us vs them' attitude with the more nuanced and pragmatic reality she needs to understand as a ruler. We see it slowly wearing her down. There is a real progression to either a great ruler, or a mad Queen being played out.
And then we get to season 8, screw natural progression let's dial this shit up to 11 in the second last episode!
The building blocks were always there, but about 2 thirds in they decided to skip a tonne of steps and call it a day.
I mean…
The issue is she didn't just "go mad" or "snap"
It was always there. People just chose to ignore it.
She killed, burned, and crucified her way across essos, but people ignored it because she was freeing people and saving them.
Since before Viserys died, Daenerys was a victim, she grew up indoctrinated that being victimized was a part of who she was. Very young Daenerys understandably identified societies victims, but even as she grew into the most powerful person in the known world, she was never able to shake the victim mentality.
We can first see this when she burns Mirri, but it’s clouded by the fact that Daenerys has lost her husband and her child, so it’s easy to see her as a victim.
Victim mentality allows her to justify-to herself, many cruelties. Examples of her flawed logical.
Kranyz deserved to die, sure, but to make every adult in Astopor a target without remorse? “They deserved it, we’re the victims here!”
With the crucified slave owners, it’s the same thing Daenerys feels that as a victim she should be able to dispense not just justice, but vengeance. She couldn’t be wrong she's the aggrieved party here!
She doesn’t need to explain herself in Mereen, she’s representing victims. She finds it hard to govern-it’s not fair, the Sons of the Harpy are persecuting her!
Finally, as everything, she cared about fell away, Daenerys falls back into victim mode again. To Daenerys, everything from the North’s rejection to Jon’s bloodline is happening to her- as the victim, none of this is her fault- it is always someone else’s fault.
Then when things do not go the way she wanted them to, she acts like the teenager she is. She creates a problem and when she can't just burn it away she runs from it.
In Yunkai she creates a problem and instability, she runs from it leading to slavery being more rampant than ever and under harsher conditions.
She destabilizes Astapore, when they beg for help dealing with the problem she created, she bluntly says it's not her problem. Again another city falls due to her lack of responsibility to handle issues she created, and slavery returns.
She was always relentless and cruel from the second she obtained even the smallest amount of power , yet it got masked by being a savior, and she was always painted as the victim. When she came to westeros as the aggressor and there was no one to free or save, people saw her for what she was. Cruel and relentless.
And yes one could view the small folk as needing "saved"
But the average person seems too preoccupied with trying to get by, trying to prepare for winter, trying to remember which of the current kings are real or false or dead and where each of them are and so on. I don't see a lot of them supporting another claimant to the throne.
Even Jorah confirms this when he says something to the effect of the small folk don’t pray for your return. They pray for health and rain and a long summer
And it's being set up similarly in the books.
Maybe if she showed up and just started handing out loads of food, but realistically right now the smallfolk (outside of the north and dorne) don't care about there rulers or supporting them, they either just want to farm and be left alone, or have joined the faith militant.
But what does it make you when you try to force your version of "salvation" onto people who don't want to be "saved"?
I wonder if he won’t write it now cuz how they ended the show? Maybe he’s waiting until ppl stop talking about it to release them? I do prefer the books but I haven’t finished them as I was watching the show and reading which was a trip. My hubby first read and hated me saying the books r better lmao
Daenerys was always unstable, and is going mad in the books. The twist isn't the issue, it's how it was orchestrated.
To kill the Night King the hero needs to forge his sword in danys fiery heart to create the sword of flame. Just like the legend.
