Wild Camping Tales and Stories. Your Questions answered. Q+A with DVS :)

Thanks to everyone for your input.
I really enjoyed making this video and answering your questions.
Video filmed on location at Monday’s wild campsite of choice – an Adventure Playground on a closed forest drive, deep in the forests of The Galloway Dark Sky Park.

  1. Hello Donna, ahhh that was brilliant, thank you. I love all the comedians you mentioned, great stuff. I'd never heard of Rik's Kevin Turvey thing, so I'll try to find it. French and Saunders was so excellent, I grew up on stuff like that.

Also, yes, copyright music, an absolute pain to deal with. However, youtube shorts can get around it somehow. Might be worth looking into. CHEERS PET!

  4. Hey Donna, smashing video, nice little camp there. Thanks for the shout out. I always feel a bit alarmed you usually have bright colour tents and pitch up hills that's why I asked my question. I must be ultra nervy, I camp so stealthy that when I expire one day/ freeze to death/get eaten by the notorious Northumbrian werewolves or whatever, my carcass'll never be found…..and yet I still get nervous in me old age now. Never did when I was young πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
Really disappointed we didn't get to see you tackling the assault course there, specially if you'd had a can or three πŸ˜‚!
    Stay safe.

  7. My first night camping was at Crow's nest camp site on top of a cliff.(near Filey I think) It was blowing a gale. My little sister (who was a baby at the time got earache…so with everything goin pear-shaped we had to pack up..
My first solo camping was aged about 14 when I'd bought enough gear from me paper-round & pocket money…No mobile phones in them days! Map n compass work…I got water from a stream that looked very fresh & wholesome…later exploring found a dead sheep lying half in the stream I'd been drinking from! 🀒🀣 Anyhow, apart from that, it was very enjoyable & loved camping ever since..
Chronically ill now (on permanent chemo) but hoping to do Canigou this year.. Oh…I live in France – you can Google the Canigou..I could see it in the distance from St Cyprien (I'd cycled there from Boulogne 1981).
Ps. Just looked up Crow's nest camp site…its still there! But they've done it up a lot, mostly caravan site now it seems..

  10. Hey Donna, just wanted to thank you for your content, i stumbled across this video by accident. I watched a number of videos like yours a couple of months back, went and bought all my kit and i now do wild camping. Been twice now and i absolutely love it, im a 45 year old man and got scared a few times i must admit but it was so much fun once i got used to the fact you just hear noises!. I've been up to Harbottle and did The Hen Hole waterfalls and cheviots the othher week it was amazing. Cant recommend those enough if you havent been, like you i am local and live in Morpeth. We have so much beauty on our doorstep dont we? If you have any great suggestions of places in Northumberland with amazing views then please so let me know!. I really want to do that Stac Polly you mentioned, its only 2hrs from me. thanks again keep up the great work.

  11. Thanks for the best wishes Donna! Seeing you really cheers me up. Honestly I can’t tell you how much I enjoy watching your videos.
I’ve finished the chemo and now a 3 week wait to see if it worked. Feeling sick as a dog most days even without chemo so things are pretty miserable. And then you come along and perk me up again. Thank you so very much xxxxx

  12. Great video Donna. Really interesting to hear more about what inspired you to start wild camping and to learn about your best and worst camps. Northumberland has so many different landscapes to offer the hiker and wild camper, I expect you’re spoiled for choice each time you plan a trip.😊

  13. You were one of the first wild campers I subbed to back in early 2018 when I started out, some great questions and answers. It’s great to see how your style of camping has evolved and your channel has grown steadily , still mad as a hatter tho πŸ˜‚ good to see the new steed looking all new. Atb Dave
