  1. I really wish they sold the IP of shadow hearts back to its creator or at least lets us play the first two games. As for Penny Blood if I wasnt told this was being made by the same guy who made SH2 I wouldnt even notice. I hope it gets better character artwork cause I really dont like the model design for it. For the armed fantasia I like the character models but never played wild arms. I just want to replay shadow hearts on my ps4 but sadly that doesnt look like its ever going to happen. Just my thoughts I want more shadow hearts

  2. They're being very upfront about this. They already got a publisher, this KS campaign is to gauge interest and budget, but if it doesn't reach the goal it will completely stop production. Thankfully it already reached the goal, since I imagine people are starving for these kinds of games for a while now.

Also, 750k for two of these types of games probably doesn't even finance a fraction needed.

  3. Let's face it, at this point Sony is not going to make these 2 classic JRPG series, and even people have a thought that turned based JRPGs are dead. So the spiritual successors of these 2 franchise is very much welcome, and I am looking forward to playing them when it is released. Now if only we have a Xenosaga successor, and no, I don't count Xenoblade cause that is a different ball game altogether.

  4. You are investing when you back a Kickstarter, not pre ordering. You are trying to get a project off the ground by throwing money at them. Sometimes this goes well, other times it doesn't. That's the risk you take.

As a big shadow hearts fan who is sad about how the series has been left to rot since the PS2 days, I am very interested in penny blood. I trust the devs behind this game to do anything they can to make these projects work out, so I threw money at this project with the knowledge that these games might not work out, and my money could disappear entirely without seeing anything in return. But the chance that I might see a great shadow hearts spiritual successor in like at least 2 or 3 years is just very much worth it to me. There is just nothing like it to me. Persona and SMT come kinda close, but it is really not the same.

  5. I dropped money on the physical double pack day one, cause I would do nearly anything for a new Shadow Hearts.
I know folks were really down on From the New World, but I really enjoyed it. Though I do agree it was the weakest of the three.

Crowdfunding is a lot like playing the lottery, so don't invest unless you either really believe in who you're funding, or willing to lose money

  6. Gotta agree kickstarters make me nervous too. Though wish I backed bloodstained would've like my pic as a portrait monster.

They look great but let's see how well they keep announcing progress on them.

  7. Saying “kickstarter is basically preordering” is wrong. Kickstarter has basically turned into a platform where sales pitches gauge community interest by way of monetary commitment. Often times the games will gain publisher backing/budget depending upon the performance of their Kickstarter. If you back a project on Kickstarter, you haven’t “purchased” anything. Kickstarter themselves explain this on their refunds FAQ:

“Kickstarter is not a store and we do not issue refunds. When you back a project, you’re supporting a creator’s right to try to make something new—and agreeing to go along for the ride.”

  8. It’s neat that this is a thing, and might invest in the double physical pack but on the other hand kickstarter is gamble because what looked promising at first can go south quickly (I know there’s been great KS but just saying)

  9. This is a JAPANESE Developer who has had a solid foundation and creditability! We are pre-ordering to support the Developer! The Japanese culture is very humble and reputation is on the line! They are NOT going to disappoint since past developers have PROVEN success! It's the same team who created it and they are pouring their heart and soul into it!

I have dumped over $1,000 into this Kickstarter since I believe in the proven Track record of the team! And you should too if you liked the prior games before! Besides this is a turnbase game and we need more of them since everyone is moving toward action based games..

  10. I think that kickstarter games are even worse than you are thinking they are, there is significant survivor's bias. I don't preorder and I don't kickstarter, but these are games that I'll buy if they release. Even if they are mid, I want to support indies with potential, but I need a product to hand over my money, not a promise.

  11. Yeah that part about the release cuz like at this point we ain't getting any younger and ain't nobody waiting 5+ years for these games to release. I mean we will but damn the wait kills me.

  12. These larger kickstarters with established creators seems to be driven by nostalgia. Eiyuden Chronicle only did well because of Suikoden 2. And you could say the same thing here, only they don't seem to be able to raise as much funds, which was expected. But at the same time, while Eiyuden reaks of nostalgia baiting, it's clear from the graphics that both of these games are intended to be up to date modern JRPG's. They have also said that the plan is to gain additional gaming corporation funding once they have more to show them.
So these are not intented to be nostalgia projects alone. They're intended to slot in next to the 2025 releases in series' like Xenoblade, SMT, Trails and Tales.
