I’m not a pianist, however I cannot imagine trying to memorize one of Schoenberg’s atonal pieces. I’m not a fan of atonal-at-all, and I’m embarrassed to say when I took Atonal Theory in graduate school, I totally bombed that course. 😊 Reply

I find it pretty easy to memorize a piece (difficult or not) if I truly want to learn it.
Moonlight sonata I've memorized like 5 times I always forget it.
