Why Joe Biden Isn’t Getting Credit for the Economy

As he runs for re-election, President Biden is talking about one specific issue a lot: the economy. He emphasizes the nation’s low unemployment and slowing inflation, and even rolled out a catchy nickname for the good numbers: Bidenomics.

The problem for Biden is that few Americans seem to agree that the economy is strong. They think the opposite.

This week, we explore the gap between the good economy, as described by the president, and the not-so-great economy, as felt by so many Americans. And we do it in Dayton, Ohio, where activists are working to get increasing the minimum wage on the ballot in November. It’s a view of Biden’s economy from the bottom up.

  1. We the working people know what Bidenomics really amounts to. It isn't pretty. And raise the minimum wage? Everybody else raises prices. Try to buy a home working at Walmart. That's where Biden puts most women.

  2. Who do you believe? Mainstream economic analyst's chipper take on the state of American economy or the demoralized sentiment of real people? Insisting that the economy is awesome while most Americans have been devastated by the dramatic debasement of their purchasing power and downward mobility is just gaslighting, and not likely a winning strategy for the Democrats.

  3. I find it hard to listen to the convoluted rationale voters use to answer the questions about the state of the US economy. Who are these people? Where do they come from? I agree that the prices at the grocery store are higher than I'd like … but every other metric of the economy (the stock market, my pay, low unemployment, etc … ) is positive and should be celebrated.

  4. Unbelievable. People remember the pandemic but they don't remember Trump denying it and causing the deaths of hundreds of thousands of people- they also don't remember how Trump destroyed the economy and how Biden has finally been able to bring back a normal economy and has helped the country in so many ways- infrastructure, climate change, student loans, international !

  5. 5.30 for Gasoline where I live because of Russia Sanctions.
Look at Fast Food Chart Prices literally Doubled
My car insurance went from 340 every 6 months for 650
Democrats and Biden can stop these insurance companies but they are being paid to give 1 million for a 30 minute speech. Democrats are for the rich and hate poor people. White Hispanic and Blacks know this now.

  6. The press reports Trump being persecuted, but it doesn't report the price gouging of corporations. Why not highlight how much Republicans accept in donations from corporations? The problem isn't Biden. It's the press.
