We dont "keep" cats on the battlefield. We rescue animals we find on the frontline then arrange to get them brought back to Kyiv for medical checkups and adoption.
Dogs tend to ge jept at rear bases and most units will have an adopted dog. But dogs on the frontline can be happy with their lives and less likely to allow you to take them somewhere safe. Same for pigs they have an unlimited supply of fresh meat. Can be gory coming across 2 pigs just chowing down on a dead orks face on infil.
