  1. You need a decent graphics card to run resolve. Bought speed editor and machine I run premiere on reliably can’t do much more than load resolve. Having to build a new machine.

  2. You make me feel like I made the right choice of edit program since I have not used one before starting with Resolve a couple of months ago. Lucky choice or good research? 🤣🤣 Doesn't matter— result is the same. Thanks for sharing your keyboard shortcuts V3… I'll be trying to adopt the left-side-keyboard-shortcuts-style.

  3. Throwing my 2cent in here: Resolve is not great at stabilzing footage, and I've never been able to sync multiple clips by audio in resolve. Whereas with final cut and premiere it just works. (Warp stabilizer is very slow, but works well) There are pros and cons to each NLE

  4. I am starting on YouTube now, and in fact I remembered your video from 4 years ago, rewatched it, and decided to go for Resolve. I was surprised to see this video pop up and it confirmed my choice. I'll try your shortcuts! Thanks a zillion!

  6. I would love to give Resolve a bigger chance but for me it doesn't make sense in my pipeline. My team and I are deep into the Adobe ecosystem and constantly move back and forth between After Effects and Premiere.

Also YES the new project create system in Premiere sucks. I have a blank project I just copy and rename to skip that entire nonsense.

  7. Sara, I can’t believe an old guitar player like you didn’t mention the 800 lb gorilla in the room. FAIRLIGHT. Dynamic busses -automated… flying faders …oh yeah ….so fun….Fairlight is ….the way…

  8. I feel in love with DR when it comes to colour grading. WOW.

I can highly recommend the colour grading course by Matthew Falconer on Udemy – one of the best courses I have ever done.

  9. I’ve been using LumaFusion (really good iPad Pro video editing app) for almost 4 years and am hoping to use Final Cut Pro in the future and I think you should do a review of LumaFusion if you haven’t already.

  10. The processing in post is incredible with A black magic camera and Davinci combo. As you shoot you can label the scenes, shots and it saves the day. Made a student film with 3 editors and Davinci helped to make it super clean and easy

  11. One feature that I use a lot when editing in Premiere is the seamless integration with Audition. I do a lot of audio work (it's sort of my main wheelhouse), and being able to simply right-click a clip and apply EQ, compression, normalization, noise gates, etc, and then have those changes show up in Premiere is one of those features I absolutely love. If Resolve had something like that with, say, Reaper, I'd be very quick to switch.

I work for a public university that provides comms, marketing, and creative teams unlimited licenses to the Adobe Creative Suite, and I learned to edit on Premiere Pro way back in 2004 (at a time when my professor was teaching us to edit on Avid and while my classmates and I were discovering Final Cut), so the thought of switching to something new feels a bit intimidating. I'm a big proponent of being proficient in as many different tools as possible, so learning to use Resolve is something that's on my to-do list for this year. And I should probably stop editing my personal stuff on work software (though, since I'm also taking courses, maybe I can call them "student projects"?)
