  1. What do you guys think? Is Elden Ring the easiest of the souls games? Why?

  2. I love that every time I see you play Elden Ring it makes me want to get it lol. I've never played a Souls game but every day I feel more and more like I want to try Elden Ring, and maybe one day I will join the club.

  3. I feel like the game's two largest hurdles are Margit and Maliketh. Margit being difficult right off the bat encourages the player to go explore the open world and come back when they're a higher level which teaches them that heavy exploration is necessary in order to keep up with the game's difficulty. Maliketh is the first boss of a gauntlet at the very end of the game which encourages the player to go find anything else that they might have missed in the world before the Capital is destroyed and to refine their build before they finish the game. So while they're harder and seem unfair compared to the rest of the game when you first encounter them, their difficulty at least serves a meaningful purpose.

  4. I played the first dark souls on the ps3. I remember just banging my head against a wall for hours, slowly getting progress until I beat it. I loved it, but it didn’t click until I played bloodborne, went back and stopped playing with a shield. Gotta roll!

  5. It was the CEO of Fromsoft himself that said something like this, and it really is the best advice anyone can give someone playing a souls games for the first time:
    “You will die a lot…”
    No. SERIOUSLY.

When I first played bloodborne, I knew I was gonna suck at the game. And I did. And because I expected to die a lot, I instead focused on things about the game I could appreciate: mechanics, music, design, atmosphere. In the end I had to look up a walkthrough to know how to get where I needed to, but the things I loved at the start of the game remained the things I loved till the end. As for difficulty and challenge: these are things you learn to enjoy the longer you play the game.

Eventually, I found myself looking for an equivalently fair yet difficult challenge in every other game I play, to no avail unfortunately. Fromsoft games remain my favorite ARPG games to this day due to the fact that I have yet to find anything as challengingly balanced as they are.

  6. I would say that for me Demon souls was probably the easiest along with Dark souls 2. Yes Elden ring has a lot more options which are well balanced. But at the same time the boss Ai especially has been improved a lot to react to the player.

  7. Hey Wolf – i wanna add a little bit of note to the "spawn point" discussion – I wouldnt say elden ring is the first to do this as fromsoft have drastically moved away from their long trek to boss fights. Their last game – Sekiro – has you respawn just outside the fog gate in all boss fights if i recall correctly. And if you analyse DS3 too, the majority of the spawn point are very near/right outside the fog gate – the only one thats a bit further than usual that i can recall are the Dragonslayer armour and Lothric prince. So ya — love your content bro – cheers.

  8. I never tried a Souls game until Bloodbourne. Haven't since. But I am looking to challenge myself so I may pick up ER when I am looking for something new. I'll watch a few more of your playthroughs first. Thanks for a great video.

  10. After 100 hours in Limgrave i finally found a build i like. I gotta say that the journey was top notch and the variety you come across in that (starter area?) really showcases a find your own build model that i think is unmatched in any game i've ever played.

  11. multiplayer i have found to be consistently HARDER 90% of the time, Bosses scale much stronger but some spirit ashes are so powerful that multiplayer is a hinderance. Mimic Tear is a better summon almost every time. The only place this isnt true is non bosses, or field bosses you can just throw summons at an infinite amount of times

  12. Dark Souls 2 was my first back in 2014 after I watched Two Best Friends Play play it and I was enchanted with the world and how detailed and complex it all was. This was before I knew that DS2 was considered the worst in the series and this was also when there were only 3 Souls games anyway, so you'll have to forgive my ignorance. But yeah it handed me my ass super hard so many times, especially the Pursuer, until I learned how to read boss patterns and tells. Now I beast through that game like it's for children. Elden Ring I'm doing OK in, just beat Rennala, but I'm not so sure how much longer I'm going to go before I hit a wall.

  13. As someone who sucks at souls (and souls-like) games, I've found Elden Ring to be both easier and harder than souls games. It depends on so many things. Your build, the enemy, the state of your gear (how strong is it), your own personal skill level, and other factors that may or may not apply per encounter.

People who are either new to the souls genre or who have shied away from it (like i did) because of how brutal it can be, I would highly recommend Elden Ring as the "gateway game" into this genre.

  14. Totally agree. In Elden Ring a lot of the quality-of-life features adds up to make the whole experience much less punishing. Also, the options are way more abundant, so if you fail you can go somewhere else and beef up or simply try another tactic at your disposal.

Definitely easier and more forgiving as a whole. Still love it tho. Great vid 👍

  15. For me the number 1 difference between Dark Souls the original and this game is the difficulty. Trash mobs are far easier compared to Dark Souls. Playing the wretched (Naked and starting at level 1) in the original Dark Souls put the player at a clear disadvantage early on as the trash mobs took several hits to kill. Once the player farmed the starting mobs then the basic mobs became easier as they player caught up in level. In Elden Ring the wretched player can still one shot mobs and there appeared to be no disadvantage to being a Wretched other than lacking armor.

The second thing that really mattered was XP or Souls acquired based on level. If you leveled up to quickly in the original Dark Souls you will find that the souls you acquired from mobs would diminish more and more. In Elden Ring this is not the case. I remember making sure to stay at a certain level in order to increase my XP farmed and I would level up right before I pushed a boss.

Overall Elden Ring is easier compared to Dark Souls, but it is still a lot of fun to play and I am entertained by exploring the world. I do wish it still had the classic Dark Soul difficulty. The only part about Elden Ring that is challenging are pretty much most of the bosses. There are some really easy bosses but for the most part the player has to get used to the bosses before beating them.

  16. I started with Demon's Souls, imported the chinese version, since the NA/EU release was like half a year later.
I do think that Elden Ring is easier but only up to a point. Yeah, you can go a bunch of different routes, level up and get better gear but some of the late game bosses are legit difficult, more so than in older souls games. At that point I feel like it's one of the most difficult out of the bunch.

  17. This game sucks, fromsoft made such an amazing world that I felt compelled to explore everything in the new zones Im in. And as a result, Im overlvl for the next zones and had to handicap myself, 1/10.

Well, jokes aside, this rlly is my only nitpick for the game, it s very easy to feel lile a demi god because of the nature of being an open world game

  18. Another bullshit take for clickbait, actually it's way harder than any ds game and contains most unfair bosses and enemies in series. Dude just throw existed game mechanics and made a conclusion "game easier". It's not even good entry point in series for newbies, ds 3 or vanilla bb way better and balanced.
