In my opinion, having Plagueis alive during episode one in canon would make him look like a fool cause not only was Sidious training Maul but Dooku as well
The Bane Trilogy are some of the best books out there. Plagueis was another of my most favorites as well.

rightly so in episode one when Anakin and Qui Gon see each other in that scene in the hangar but I'm not referring to when they leave Curcant but when they arrive that you see when Qui Gon and Obi Wan separate from Anakin, when Anakin leaves with Senator Amidala's entourage. There is a brief moment from a panoramic view that looks like it is being seen by someone through some kind of binoculars. That even Anakin notices and is shocked. That even both Padme and Quigon make him wake up or wake up by calling him and come quickly in this case to where Padme was or where he was going. Look for it and even watch the movie and you will notice the binocular panoramic view shown. Or the reference that George has in the direction of someone spying on them. Possibly it was Plagues.

I would recommend anyone give it a read, especially if you're in the mood to watch the prequels again.
I believe the Bane trilogy is the best place to start if you want to get into legends. After you read those, then read Darth Plagueis. I just think the Bane novels offer a lot of context to Darth Plagueis.
Sideous greed was the downfall of sith if he kept plagues alive & with the help of vadar they would of all been immortal & probably ruled the galaxy for many years if not forever.
