One of the best anime of all time has ended and yet we are still thinking about it. We usually don’t go full in discussing an anime series but there is just something about this show that is so good that we needed to make a video about it.

What did you think about the AOT ending?
I think you feel with AoT that the author had something in mind but was either unable or unwilling to go the full path.
One of the narrative strands is that the Titans will not be relevant once the nations develop better weapons which is bound to happen soon.
So why is Zeke so obsessed with ending the Titans and Eldians ? Their threat is literally negated by just waiting.
There are so many of these questions i was left with after the ending…
A SURPRISE TO BE SURE BUT A WELCOME ONE
I think the story needs a rewrite like the way Evangelion needed. There's a story in there, it just needs a few more passes.
Normie posts, I sleep.
nah it's not
I've seen a lot of mixed reception to the ending. Personally, the end of the manga feels like Isayama just ran out of time and his personal investment, and wanted to finish the series so he and the audience could move on. At least, that was the idea.
Imo, the retcon where Eren is revealed to be the one to have killed his mother(?) & commanded Grisha to act is where AoT jumped the shark. It completely destroys Grisha's arc and Eren's for that matter.
It could've been easier to accept if the only way Eren could conceptualize being stripped of his own agency by the Halucingenia / Worm was to blame himself for everything including his father's poor life choices by proxy. But instead, it comes off like a cheap emotional crit. Without agency, the characters are all just moving along for the plot's sake.
There are other smaller things I didn't like, but that was the biggest one.
The codependent romance(???) between Eren and Mikasa was undercooked, should've been touched on in Marley Arc (on screen tension, maybe a drunken confession or a kiss that ultimately backfires).
overreliance on underdeveloped tertiary characters such as Sasha's Marleyan BF, in lieu of developing existing ones such as Annie or Colt or Kiyomi
the possibility of Bertholdt superceding Armin's persona, as other Titan Shifters have been possessed or influenced, such as Frieda and Eren. instead his crush on Annie(?) is mostly played for laughs, when he's never gotten flustered like that around her before he ate Bertholdt. in the above context it's legitimately disturbing and I don't think that was intentional.
I do think AoT has its great moments, despite the flaws. FT and Uprising Arcs were fantastic. Loved the flashbacks with Grisha and Kruger, the Reiss family + Historia, Zackley's whole double life, and the stuff with Eren and Reiner during the Marley Arc is probably my favorite writing in the series. I just wish the later stuff was more consistent in its tone.
NO I DONT WANT THAT. MIKASA WITH ANOTHER MAN?! -peak fiction
The soundtrack is essential to AOT as well. Beyond the plot and animation, the music is composed and implemented masterfully. It evokes feelings of the sacred, struggle, and triumph. The music treats the story with the seriousness it deserves.
Not one of… AOT is THE BEST
Anime is for horny edgelords
AOT is the best thing from anime
its not lol
Is this spoiler free? Please advise.
All outside your nation want those of your nation. You your friends your family. All you know dead.
No amount of dialogue it seems can stop it. They are actively either exterminating those of your race or keeping them in work camps where the men woman and even children are forced to fight and die in war. Sometimes even sent to murder their own.
I think many don't like Erens choice because they are a coward that lies even to themself. In such a situation why would killing 80% of those that would kill you and yours simply for your ancestory make you a villian.
And even if it did how many of you can genuinely say that if given the choice of either everyone you care for dying or strangers that want you and yours to perish doing so instead that you'd prefer the latter?
Eren did nothing wrong.
now this is what i have been waiting from you for long time
Really well written and voiced
It's fuckin not though.
The story is literally all over the place making it obvious that the mangaka had no idea wtf to do with it. Once they reach the basement, it went downhill. The dude had no idea what to do with the setup and spent the entirety up to that point trying to figure out SOMETHING to put in there.
The show literally fuckin ends with "Why Mikasa?" "I dunno, lol ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Check it out, bird Eren!"
It's Fallout 4's "You just wouldn't understand!" when asking "The Father" why the hell are they replacing people with synths.
The only thing that carried the show to the ending was the momentum it built when it released. It's not that it was "one of the best animes of all time", it was just many people's first intro to anime and too big to fail at this point. There's so many entries that fucking mog AoT.
The people that think this ended good or is "peak" are the same drooling mental cases that thought S2 of Vinland Saga was good.
I get why so many people like it, but the best?
gibli, berserk, full metal, trigun, dorohedoro, freaking one piece?
AOT is ok, but definitely not the best. especially because the ending.
No
I stopped watching when the series changed distributors locally, so I kept reading the manga.
Both, in my very humble opinion, suffer from fascist-admiring undertones, a lack of true pacing, and real sense of direction.
Clearly you differ from my opinion, but the story of season one is padded to fit 25 episodes, the unnecessary death of Sasha, the number of unnecessary characters…
I gave it a chance still, but got back to all the incessant changes for motivations, incoherent decision making and (I won't spoil things, but you'll know if you saw the ending, and who seems to have been right, which… Yuck).
I'm sorry, but where you see genius, I see a disastrous mess of a story that, ultimately, takes you for a rollercoaster ride that's unsafe and unsatisfying.
It's junk writing that doesn't know pacing, constantly shifts motivations and seems to be written for shock value.
The Historia arc is a good example… Why is it there? To do what exactly?
Then let's take Mikasa… And Mikasa after the skip… What about that?
And those endings… Junk! And don't get me started with the fascist topics… Ugh.
The answer to your opening questions is no.
Not you endorsing the nazi incel anime….
A Disection Without A Straight Plot Summery, Your Work Is Well Worth A Sub
You expect the unexpected from a shounen anime. It seems impossible for it to be the "best anime of all time" when there is the fact that HxH is the one that everyone will agree on. There's also the fact that One Piece carries shounen on its back. AOT is just an anime that is well constructed but falls short of what the mangaka wrote.
Tatakae ! ✊
Those who saying Ending sucks are Morons because I can literally explain all your confusions and misconceptions
It’s literally too easy to correct you all because you guys have simple misconceptions
You can still delete this to preserve some of your credibility
One of the best fascist animes ever
I’d put it in my top 20-30 for sure. It would’ve been higher if season 4 part 2 wasn’t so slow and the ending in the final special wasn’t so convoluted and rushed
Attack on Titan is a series that was written with all points planned from the beginning. The people who blew the ending way out of proportion clearly were not paying attention and just like the flashy colorful fights scenes in anime
What most people dont understand about eren is his goal is to be free. And the only way he know how is throught sacrifice.
That all he ever learn since childhood, sacrifice to achive a goal.
That why he went with the rumbling. He smart guy to find another way and it blinded by vision.
This is such a great analysis of the themes of Attack on Titan!! "Who is the real enemy" is such a clear summary of how the story tugs on viewers/readers' emotions and adds to the nuance of such a grand-scale story! Another important theme I think is the ideal of "freedom" – at first, Eren's innocent desire for discovery and autonomy beyond the walls, which later transforms into horrendous acts of violence to justify "freedom" for a few
This is lost on many AoT fans, the title, at least initially, was heavily based upon a 2006 visual novel game called Muv Luv Alternative. To sum up the premise, the world has been waging a war for 40 years fighting alien hordes of alien where over the half the world has been taken over by these aliens and only about a billion people are alive and people use mechs to fight the aliens. The story is military themed and has a lot of political intrigue and political infighting, a coupe- similar to AoT. Many of the same themes found in AoT can be found in Muv Luv Alternative. I doubt anyone would play the game but its on steam and its a sequel. There are also anime adaptions of the spinoffs but not every titles can be blessed with good adaptions.
The manga last 4 or so volumes felt rushed, plot points and events happened to quick and in the case of ch139 it was execute poorly, on its own the final arc that goes from ch 124 to 139 is below the rest of the series, while the anime version of those events sits among the best arcs in the show.
Just started reading the manga and it makes me wanna rewatch the show. And I can't stop listening to the music from the show. I find so much good about it but can't put my finger on it. Hard to describe it, so having a video that points out some of the things will help when trying to convince people how Attack on Titan is one of the best shows.
Thank you for the review. The show really provoked interesting debates with its ending. In a way confirming its point: hate creates only more hate and the one thing you can do is just always trying to do better, be a better person, be kinder to others.
