Andrew, I said this when you were on Cwic, but you need to make video essays analyzing more of this moments in movies and TV shows and explaining why whey are problematic.
Love this presentation. I hope Andrew can find support to do what he loves and not warp children. There is a large audience that want entertainment that doesn’t have a social agenda. Heavenly Father usually humbles a society when there is no hope for a young generation. This is happening in the church and even in Provo.
He lost all credibility with me when he didn't bother dressing appropriately for the occasion. This was like being led by the little children that Isaiah warned us about.
Excellent
An amazing presentation!
I'm sorry, but this guy is just really out there. His entire presentation was really unfortunate and I feel bad for him. He is creating tangential connections where none exist and is kind of spinning a larger conspiracy theory. He is essentially railing against social change and the fact that media reflects updated, evolving cultural norms, which he feels are wrong, degenerate, etc. I could imagine a similar rant about media depicting interracial couples and how this was "social engineering".
It's kind of ironic because he is claiming that one of the "targets" is capitalism and yet in the very next sentence he says, "We're not going to take it out unless an audience gets mad." Lol, looks like capitalism is alive and well, contrary to Mr. Young's conspiracy!
His example of supposed "social engineering" against men at 35:55 is laughable. The point of the script here is to juxtapose stereotypical gender roles and show that men/women are not unidimensional (women can be tough/strong/brave and men can be caring, kind, thoughtful). It also ignores the fact that as the Lego movie progresses, the so-called "weak" attributes of Emmet are shown to actual be the "strong" attributes as he learns to play cooperatively with his little sister and involve her. It's actually a very pro-social and pro-family message. The fact that Mr. Young is seeing something sinister here really boggles the mind.
His example about Mrs. Grunion screaming "the foundation of our society is the family" as being a swipe against Christians, conservatives, or families as being really off base. The point here is to recognize hypocrisy and how anyone can say the right things and do the wrong actions. A little critical thinking here could go along way. For instance, just because Tim Ballard says "we need to stop child trafficking" doesn't mean his methods are good (e.g., seducing women into committing adultery).
The last example in frozen as being anti-Christmas is really just absurd. Again, the speaker is seeing bogeymen where none exist.
In President Russel M. Nelson's first Conference of 2018 as President, he said we need to learn to receive revelation through the Spirit. Surely, this will help us to not be so susceptible to the influence of social engineering going on all around us.
"We live in a world that is complex and increasingly contentious. The constant availability of social media and a 24-hour news cycle bombard us with relentless messages. If we are to have any hope of sifting through the myriad of voices and the philosophies of men that attack truth, we must learn to receive revelation."
"In coming days, it will not be possible to survive spiritually without the guiding, directing, comforting, and constant influence of the Holy Ghost."
Folks, this is a academic conference for those interested in defense of the faith (Apologetics). It is not General Conference, Sacrament Meeting or Scripture and the speaker is not a General Authority. He is expressing experiences and opinions in a forum wherein academic disagreement is healthy and respected. We can respect his views without measuring it to a standard other than it was meant. (clothing and presentation style, etc) If the listener uses the message for introspection, for observation, for understanding and as a basis for further analysis, the purpose is met. Learn from it.
Bringing or creating life is not only giving birth but to maintain and sustain life, not just the life of the children as they grow but of her husband. When a woman cooks and cleans she is providing nutrition and hygiene, literally a healthy life. Women care for the elderly and disabled, providing life to her extended family and community. Women care for other women who recently gave birth, again supporting life. It may be than thankless and grueling but it is so important and necessary for well adjusted children and a healthy society. "Behind every man is a better woman". "The had that rocks the cradle rules the world." Society has forgotten this.
Thank you. This really opened my eyes.
What about the social engineering brigham got up to aka polygamy. Church needs to realize that scripture teaches it begins in house.
Hes being very vague
Yo dude
This was a refreshing presentation. I wish they would have given him another 20 minutes. This message is needed right now!
I could have listened a whole lot longer. What a great message 👌💥🔥
Yeah, Madagascar 3 is the best
Wow. His discussion about Isaiah is just a prelude to his true message, but it sets a great stage. Hang in there and don’t stop. It’s worth watching to the very very end. It will rock your world. We loved that he offered a solution, and a very good one at that!
Wow, Nephi was a plagiarist. And yes, the priesthood is also indoctrination.
I appreciate what the video was teaching but he misses a very important symbolism. Daughters of Zion is in reference to the WHOLE church… just like the virgins in the parable of the 10 Virgins… it's not only the women that are going to be tempted by the pride of the world but the men too. All the symbolism in Isaiah 3 is in reference to ALL those in the covenant that choose the world over their temple covenants. The rights and privileges that they obtain from the temporal world will rot.
My husband and I both watched this presentation separately and, while we agree that social engineering is an issue, this young man struck us as a bit unhinged, maybe a little obsessed in an unhealthy way. The presentation seemed a bit disjointed too. Maybe that’s an unpopular opinion in this crowd but that’s what we saw.
