WHICH PRIMARCH COULD SURPRISE RUSS? WHO WOULD HE UNDERESTIMATE?

Hi everyone Rho here! Today we’re asking the question which Primarch would Russ underestimate in combat? Who of all the Primarch’s could give Russ the biggest surprise?

General Spoiler Warning to begin as the events we’re discussing today are from across the Warhammer 40,000 universe. So you have been warned!

  1. irl we all like cqb duels but a legit way to kill a rival primarch would be destroying the ship he is on, or virus bombing him, or even affecting exterminatus on the planet he is standing on.
Due to greater firepower Guilliman could kill any, if he had motive, will and fleet concentration.

-Also why is the Big E so absent in the HH books?
We are blls deep into the Siege now; he needs more screen time.

  2. I think the issue in which Primarch could best whom comes down to what the rules of the engagement are.
Are we talking one on one? Then no one is really beating Sanguinius, by the time he faced the chaos elevated Horus, he'd defeated Kahbanda and the demon Primarch Angron, consecutively and had no chance to rest (and there's the theory he did beat Horus and it was the Emperor who killed him whilst also being wounded by him).
But people over look the Primarchs are GENERALS. Does this contest include their legions?
In which case many Primarchs could best the Great Angel or the Wolf King.
Russ one on one, the Fabulous Hawkboy, the Kahn and the Lion I think could beat him but with the exception of Hawkboy I don't think either is a done deal

  3. Honestly i dont think Russ is that dangerous, he's very sure of himself which in itself sets him up fpr failure against quite a few of his brothers.

We all know Vulkan would snap him in two

  6. I think Russ is slightly overestimating himself. The whole Executioner thing doesn't mean the Emperor thinks he's the best fighter, it just means Russ is obedient and asks no questions when sent to kill. Thou I gotta say after reading Wolfsbane I think better of Russ, he got the noble savage treatment I found him surprisingly rational… unlike his sons in 40K who are far more superstitious than rational starting with Grimnar. Imagine in Wolftime the Lion instead of Guilliman.. Grimnar would have lost his damn head lol!

  7. Hate to say it but I think Guilliman might do a lot better than people would credit him. I'd imagine once he learnt of the Heresy and faced Lorgar, Angron and Konrad he probably devised theoreticals for fighting all of his brothers. We already know Corax beat him a couple of times but Guilliman learnt from it and then beat Corax. If he could study the Wolves and Russ's style I'm sure he'd have a plan.

  8. First semi harsh message I ever posted on one of these. The Vulkan and Russ debate took on a Batman vs Superman tone, when the presenter loves Batman. We're talking about surprise and then we give away Vulkan's biggest secret so Russ can prepare for it? Where's the possibility of surprise if we're just going to give all the info up front. Also, Russ has probably sparred with Vulkan and thinks he has a measure of Vulkan's strength. But no one knew how strong Vulkan actually is because he always held back. Are we just going to give Vulkan's marvel card complete with comparative strength level to Russ and then wonder if Vulkan has any tricks up his sleeve?

  9. Id say Curze could give him a run for his money and possibly kill him if he was actually about the fight. There are others that stand a pretty good chance of making it a fight if not outright winning, but I think Russ would have serious difficulty with Curze in a one on one due to the whole foresight bit that gave him a solid chance against even the Lion.

  10. I think Peter Turbo, and Ferus Manus. Ferus gets a lot of crap because he isn't actually a character in the books so much as a plot point. How ever he is the second biggest and strongest to the brothers, and was supposed to be a tactical genius. Peter would just never enter a fair 1v1 fight with Russ, there would be a trap in place well before they actually met. Lastly I think Magnus would have beat him if he weren't also 500 other things when they were fighting.

  11. Alpharius steps out of the shadows. Then Omegon. Then their captains, having drunk the blood of their twin Primarchs and gaining a measure of their memories and abilities. All in identical armor and weapons. In that moment all are Alpharius. Russ could probably one defeat Alpharius, two would be a stretch but both brothers and all their doubles? Nope.

  12. I mean any Primarch could surprise Russ. Any of them COULD kill him under the right conditions.

People talk about the Primarch V Primarch as though they're going to fight under some set of honour rules with a particular set of rules, but that's pretty unrealistic.

Could Alpharius assassinate Russ through guile or Magnus through magic? Sure.

Could Guilliman cut off the Wolves' supplies, overwhelm the Space Wolves and force Russ into a desperate last stand where he takes Russ? Why not?

Could Russ beat any of these three "lesser warrior" Primarchs under many other circumstances? Of course.

The whole fun part of Primarch V Primarch scenarios is that they break down into an elaborated form of Rock-Paper-Scissors but with 20 options and terrain complicating matters.

  13. Sanguinius for obvious reasons
The lion who could match and beat Russ
An enraged Vulkan. A nice guy but physically the strongest and a perpetual so imagine what he could when blood lusted
Curvis korax for his shadow abilities
Conrad curze he's space batman plus hes just as good a fighter and can see into the future
The Khan very unpredictable and the fastest primark
Horus though he got injured by him, he could take out Russ

  14. Hey Rho is there any chance for you to do Farsight video? With all these tarrot cards for him it seems that he will play his part with khorne and he got tempted once while he fought bloodthirster! And xeno vid would be nice. ^^

  15. Just imagine if Leman has an oozaru form he’s been keeping to himself this entire time, if Corvax can become a warp infused creature of shadow then I don’t see why Leman can’t turn into a giant werewolf…

  16. I hate the 1v1 the primarchs are NOT equal in anyway as their so different the closest I would say are Dorn and Peter turbo every then there are differences that mark the out in key categories. No the wolf king is good but he is also a braggart who over estimates himself, Konrad lose to the lion was the lion instinct and kurze couldn’t address that, the angels loss to kabanda was him not understanding what he was dealing with, the wolf king fight against horus was them being filled with power that wasn’t their own horus was still gaining power if the wolf didn’t have the emperors spear he would lose, Vulcan may have his perpetual nature his arms and armor is also key as during istvan BOLTER rounds were bouncing off and it took a nuke to just knock him out. There are so many nuances it makes it hard to see as legion vs legion primarch vs primarchs are so up in the air like when Magnus vs the wolf king he would’ve got clapped so hard he would look like Magnus in the end if he used his fulll power, the alph legion would tear him apart dorn and Peter would destroy him, as would the lion he is mid level and is more feared due to his legion imo
