From the best-selling novel comes a captivating mystery. Where the Crawdads Sing tells the story of Kya, an abandoned girl who raised herself to adulthood in the dangerous marshlands of North Carolina. For years, rumors of the “Marsh Girl” haunted Barkley Cove, isolating the sharp and resilient Kya from her community. Drawn to two young men from town, Kya opens herself to a new and startling world; but when one of them is found dead, she is immediately cast by the community as the main suspect. As the case unfolds, the verdict as to what actually happened becomes increasingly unclear, threatening to reveal the many secrets that lay within the marsh.

Where the Crawdads Sing stars Daisy Edgar-Jones (Normal People) as “Kya Clark,” Taylor John Smith (Sharp Objects) as “Tate Walker,” Harris Dickinson (The King’s Man) as “Chase Andrews,” Michael Hyatt (Snowfall) as “Mabel,” Sterling Macer, Jr. (Double Down) as “Jumpin’,” and David Strathairn (Nomadland) as “Tom Milton.” Olivia Newman (First Match) directs the screenplay by Lucy Alibar (Beasts of the Southern Wild) based upon the novel by Delia Owens. The 3000 Pictures film is being produced by Reese Witherspoon and Lauren Neustadter.

  1. She lives alone, in the marshes and is cleaned and dressed like that? I don’t think so. Hollywood just has to ruin everything to suit their desires. Books probably pretty good but the movie looks lame……like most of Hollywoods junk.

  2. The movie is simply brilliant, very movingly portrayed. For those who have read the book, many are directly comparing it. A movie portrayal is not a line for line copy of the book. I’m sure you’ll enjoy it if you get that.

  3. Sorry but kya was described as an exotic girl. With dark hair and wild appearance. But in this trailer she looks "too" clean and normal. Also Tate has curly hair and wears in the beginning mostly a cap. Also there was never a fight between the boys in the book.however the mysterious vibe of kya isn't there for me when I watch this.

  4. It is no secret that the book will ALWAYS be better than the movie… The Outsiders, Prince of Tides, The Color Purple … The list goes on and on! With that said, the movies are fun to watch so you can put a face on the people you are reading about. I think this book will be ranked up there with the best of them! I'm about halfway through and I love this book.

  5. I don’t really like this 🙁 I imagined Kya to have ginger hair and freckles for being in the sun too much but apart from the characters being different I’ll give it a go as it looks promising 😅

  6. Daisy Edgar-Jones is an actress of mediocre ability. She evokes racist symbolic gestures throughout the film. It is horrible to watch these privately-educated people getting the leading roles, and what a boring movie anyway.

  9. I can tell by this trailer that the movie deviates entirely too much from the book.
They couldn't find a scrawny young girl to play Kya? Her clothes were raggedy, her hair unkempt, and she had a strong unique southern dialect in the book.
I wanted to see this movie but I won't now.

  11. VERY poor choices by Reese and company; a British actress AND Ciinematographer can NOT understand that area of the United States and its culture.
Movie deviates from the book entirely too much.
